BMW X6 Battery Warning: Terminal 30 Plus Mystery

Help needed: BMW X6 (2021) starting problems & battery issues My X6 has been acting up lately. The onboard computer shows "Battery heavily discharged" warning, and the car struggles to start. There are also some error codes related to undervoltage. I suspect it might be a Terminal 30 continuous plus issue. The car has about 159k km on it, and I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer after a previous bad experience. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hey there. I had a similar issue with my BMW X4 (2018) last year. The battery warning kept popping up, and the car would struggle to start, especially after sitting for a couple of days. Took it to my trusted mechanic who found that the original battery was failing and couldn't hold a proper charge anymore. There was also a small drain from the comfort access system. They replaced the battery and reprogrammed the Battery Management System (BMS). Had to get a specific battery compatible with the start-stop system. The whole thing wasn't too complex, but you definitely need someone who knows BMWs to do it right since these cars need proper battery registration after replacement. Been running smooth since then, no more warnings or starting issues. For a 2021 X6, your battery shouldn't be failing yet unless there's an underlying issue causing excessive drain. Might want to get it checked soon before you end up stranded somewhere.

Thanks for sharing your experience! The battery and BMS reprogramming sounds exactly like what might be happening with mine. Been getting quite worried about the whole situation. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for everything? Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks since the repair was done? I've got an appointment with a BMW specialist next week, so your info really helps me know what to expect. Hoping it's just the battery and nothing more serious!

Hey again! Actually, I'm glad you asked about the costs and follow-up. After getting it fixed by my mechanic, all those annoying Terminal 30 continuous plus problems completely disappeared. The total bill came to 290 € for diagnosing and fixing the battery issue, money well spent considering I haven't had a single problem since! Just to put your mind at ease, no weird electrical quirks after the repair at all. The car starts perfectly every time now, even after sitting unused for a while. The comfort access system works flawlessly too, and all those irritating battery warnings are gone for good. Your symptoms sound identical to what I dealt with, so I reckon you're making the right call getting it checked by a specialist. Given your X6 is newer than my X4 was when I had the issue, there's a good chance it's just the battery needing replacement and registration. Let us know how it goes with the specialist!

Thanks so much for all the details! Just got back from the mechanic today and wanted to update you. You were spot on, it was indeed the battery and BMS issue. The mechanic found that my battery was struggling to maintain charge, plus there was a small drain from several systems. Got it all sorted with a new battery, proper registration, and BMS programming. Bill came to just over 300, which wasn't as bad as I feared. The best part? Car starts up perfectly now, and all those annoying warning messages are gone. The mechanic also checked the alternator and other electrical components just to be safe. Everything else looked good. Really glad I didn't go to the dealer, probably saved myself a bunch of money and got great service from this specialist. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It really helped me understand what I was dealing with and gave me confidence in getting it fixed!
