Thanks for sharing your experience. That's exactly the kind of detail I was looking for, and it sounds very similar to what I'm dealing with. How much did the whole repair end up costing you? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at. Also, have you had any other issues pop up since they fixed it? My car's still under extended warranty, but I'm worried they might try to claim it's due to missed maintenance.

Hey again! Since you asked about the costs, I got lucky and caught it before any major damage occurred. The whole thing set me back 165 € to fix the maintenance interval issue, which honestly wasn't as bad as I initially feared. And I've got good news on that front, since getting it sorted out, I haven't had a single warning light or oil-related problem. The mechanic did a thorough job cleaning out the contaminated oil and getting everything back to proper working order. It's been running like a dream since then. About your warranty concern, my advice would be to gather all your maintenance records if you have them. Even if you're a bit late on some services, having documentation of regular care helps your case. I know these repairs can be nerve-wracking, but getting it fixed sooner rather than later really is the way to go. Trust me, you don't want to end up with more serious engine issues down the road. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out!

Thanks for all the info! I actually took your advice and got it checked out yesterday. You were right about catching it early, turns out my issue was pretty similar to yours. The mechanic I found was really thorough and honest. They discovered some contaminated oil and a clogged oil filter, but luckily no serious engine damage. The whole thing cost around 200 bucks, which was a relief since I was expecting much worse. The best part? They helped me document everything properly for my warranty coverage, and it all went through without any problems. The car's running smoothly now, no more warning lights! Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked out quickly. Sometimes you just need that extra push to deal with car problems, you know? P.S. The new mechanic I found is way better than my old one. They actually explained everything they were doing instead of just handing me a bill. What a difference!

As a 2018 BMW X3 owner, I faced similar warnings last year. High mileage and engine oil issues aren't something to ignore, I learned this firsthand. The dual warning combination (general + oil pressure) typically points to contaminated oil or oil pressure system problems. In my case, it turned out the oil was severely degraded and had metal particles in it. The mechanic found that I'd gone way past the maintenance interval, which had started damaging the engine bearings. The fix required a complete oil system flush, new oil filter, and they had to clean the oil pressure sensor which was giving false readings. It was pretty serious, if left unchecked, it could've led to engine failure. I'd strongly suggest getting this checked soon. These symptoms are very similar to what I experienced, and waiting could lead to more extensive engine damage. Find a certified BMW specialist if you're not comfortable with your current mechanic.
