Navigationssystem is not working

Thanks for your detailed response! My X4 is fairly well maintained with 48417 KM on the clock and was just serviced last month. The issues actually started right after I got the service done, which makes me think something might have been triggered during the maintenance. I'm not getting any specific error codes, just that general electrical malfunction warning and a completely black nav screen. Your experience with the Transport Mode sounds exactly like what I might be dealing with. Did you try any troubleshooting before taking it to the dealer? I'm a bit hesitant to start messing with the electrical system myself, but if there's a safe way to check things, I'm all ears.
Hey again! Yeah, that timing with the service visit is really suspicious, almost exactly what happened with my X3. When I first dealt with this, I did try some basic troubleshooting before heading to the dealer, but I kept it pretty simple and safe. First thing I did was the basic "reset", disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes (just remember to have your radio code handy). It actually cleared the warnings temporarily, but they came back after a few hours. Then I tried checking all the obvious fuses related to the nav system, but everything looked fine there. Since your symptoms are identical to what I experienced, and it started right after service, I'd bet money they accidentally activated Transport Mode during their diagnostic checks. These BMWs are pretty sensitive to that stuff. The dealer had to use their diagnostic computer to properly deactivate it and reset the system, it's not something you can really fix with basic tools. Tell you what, before you take it in, try that battery disconnect trick I mentioned. If the warnings come back like mine did, you'll know it's likely the Transport Mode issue. Just make sure you document when the problems started (right after service) because that's pretty important info for the service department. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks so much for walking me through this! I just tried the battery disconnect trick you suggested, and you're spot on, the warnings disappeared for a bit but came back after about 2 hours of driving. I really appreciate you sharing your experience because I was starting to worry it might be something major and expensive. Going to call the service center tomorrow and mention the Transport Mode issue specifically. Since it happened right after they serviced the car, hopefully they'll sort it out without charging me. Really glad I asked here before trying anything more complicated myself. Will update you once it's resolved!
Hey there! I've got some experience with BMWs as a casual DIY-er. I had a similar electrical gremlin with my 2012 BMW X3, and my cousin owns an X5 too. My nav system also went completely dead, along with some weird electrical warnings. Turned out it was indeed related to Transport Mode, it's a factory setting that sometimes doesn't get properly deactivated on new vehicles. Took it to the dealer while it was under warranty, and they sorted it out with a software update and proper deactivation of Transport Mode. Didn't cost me anything since the car was new. Before I can give more specific advice, could you tell me if you're getting any specific error codes? Also, when did these issues start, and are there any other electrical quirks you've noticed? This info would help narrow down if you're dealing with the same thing I experienced.
