Thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds like what I'm dealing with. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much the amp replacement set you back? Also, has everything stayed working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other electrical gremlins pop up? Great to hear from someone who's been through this before with a similar BMW.

Hey again! Good news, I actually just got my X3 back from the mechanic last week for the same issue you're having. Unlike my previous amp problem, this time it turned out to be just a faulty bass speaker that was causing all the drama. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than my previous amp replacement, only 280 € to fix the defective speaker. The audio system is working perfectly now, no more cutting out, no more crackling, just crystal clear sound like when the car was new. And nope, haven't had any other electrical issues pop up since either of the repairs. My earlier amp replacement from last year has held up great too. It's definitely worth getting your X4 checked out, might not be as expensive as you're thinking if it's just a speaker issue like mine turned out to be this time. The peace of mind is worth it, especially since these modern BMWs have such great sound systems when they're working properly. Let me know how it goes if you get it looked at!

Thanks for the update! I actually bit the bullet and took my X4 to a new mechanic yesterday. Turns out it was also a blown speaker causing all the trouble, what are the odds? The repair cost was pretty reasonable, around 300 bucks including labor. Way less than I was worried it might be! The best part is the sound system is back to working perfectly. No more unusual cutting out or those annoying crackling sounds. The mechanic was super professional too, explained everything clearly and even showed me the damaged speaker. Really glad I decided to get it checked instead of putting it off. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it definitely helped push me to get it sorted! Now I can finally enjoy my music properly again during my drives. Such a relief to have this fixed without any major drama or shocking repair bills. Definitely keeping this mechanic's number for future reference!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW X3 last year. The symptoms were exactly what you're describing, intermittent subwoofer issues and crackling sounds. Turned out my amplifier was failing, and it was causing the whole audio system to act up. Took it to my garage and they found that water had gotten into the amp unit under the trunk floor. It was a serious issue that required replacing the entire amplifier and checking all the wiring connections. There was also some corrosion on the connectors that needed cleaning. The fix wasn't quick, my car was at the garage for three days as they had to order the specific amp model. But since the repair, the audio system has worked flawlessly. No more cutting out or crackling. Given your symptoms, I'd bet you're dealing with a similar amp issue. Best to get it checked soon before it potentially affects other electrical components. Cheers
