Thanks for the detailed response! Mine's a gasoline model with 178670 KM on the clock. Just had it serviced last month actually. You know what, those symptoms sound exactly like what I'm experiencing. I'm getting a flashing ABS light along with the ASC warning, and yeah, the acceleration is super jerky, especially when starting from a stop. Haven't pulled the error codes yet, but planning to do that tomorrow. Really helpful to know about the relay being the culprit in your case. Was starting to worry it might be something way more expensive! Did you notice any other symptoms before getting it fixed? Mine seems to be getting worse by the day.
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your X4. when you mentioned the flashing ABS light along with those other symptoms, it's like déjà vu of what I went through with my X3! Yeah, before I got mine fixed, I definitely noticed it getting progressively worse. Started with just occasional jerking, but after about a week, it was doing it pretty much every time I accelerated from a stop. Really annoying, right? And just like yours, mine got noticeably worse each day I waited to get it fixed. With those mileage numbers you mentioned (mine was around 165000 km when it happened), and the symptoms being so similar, I'd put money on it being the same relay issue. One thing I didn't mention before, I also noticed the traction control seemed completely dead before I got it fixed. Did you notice that too? Just a heads up, even though the relay fix was relatively cheap in my case, definitely get those error codes read first. These BMWs can be tricky, and it's always better to be sure before assuming anything. Would love to hear what the scan shows up when you get it done tomorrow. Quick question, did you notice any issues during your recent service? Sometimes these problems start showing up right after routine maintenance, which might help narrow down the cause.
Thanks for all the extra info, it's reassuring to hear your experience! And yes, now that you mention it, I've definitely noticed the traction control isn't working at all. Tested it on some loose gravel yesterday and the wheels just spun freely. You've actually made me feel a lot better about this whole situation. I was imagining having to replace the entire ABS unit or something equally expensive! No, nothing came up during the recent service, everything was normal then. The problems started about two weeks after. I'll definitely get those error codes read tomorrow and update you. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Even if it turns out to be something different, at least I now have a good starting point to discuss with my mechanic. I'll let you know what they find!
Hey there! I've got some experience working on BMWs and dealt with something really similar on my 2016 BMW X3. I feel your pain! Had almost identical symptoms, ASC warning, jerky acceleration, ABS acting up. Turned out it was a faulty ASC relay. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. The repair itself wasn't too complicated, basically just needed the relay replaced. Cost me about 90 Euro including labor. Before I can help more specifically though, could you share: Which engine variant you have? Are there any other warning lights? Have you scanned for the exact error codes? Let me know these details, and I might be able to give you more targeted advice based on my experience.
