Thanks for sharing your experience with the X5! Really helpful to know it was the fuel injector, sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Quick question: do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise. Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey there! Happy to help update you on the costs. The total bill came to 515 € for replacing the faulty injector and cleaning the fuel system. It was worth every penny though, my X5's been running like a dream since the fix. The engine's not running rich anymore, and all those annoying symptoms disappeared completely. The fuel consumption is back to normal, no more power issues, and that awful jerking during acceleration is gone. It's been about a year now, and I haven't had a single problem pop up related to this. The car feels just like it did when it was newer. Trust me, getting it fixed properly was the right call, especially since these issues can cause bigger problems if left unchecked. The mechanic did mention I caught it at a good time before it could damage the catalytic converter, which would've been way more expensive to fix. If your symptoms are similar to what I experienced, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out soon. The peace of mind alone is worth it!

Just wanted to update everyone, I took my X3 to a new mechanic last week. You were spot on! They found a bad injector in cylinder 3, plus some carbon buildup. Bill came to around 600, but honestly, it was totally worth it. The engine's running smooth as silk now, and that annoying jerking is completely gone. The mechanic was great too, really took the time to explain everything and even showed me the old injector. Apparently, I caught it just in time before it could mess up my catalytic converter. They did a full system cleaning while they were at it, and wow, what a difference! Fuel consumption's back to normal, and the engine's got its power back. Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked out. Sometimes you just need that extra push to find a new mechanic, you know? This one's definitely a keeper, professional, honest, and actually fixed the problem the first time around.

I had almost identical issues with my 2015 BMW X5 last year. The symptoms matched yours exactly, rough idle, power loss, increased fuel consumption, and that annoying jerking during acceleration. After some initial misdiagnosis, it turned out to be a faulty fuel injector. The garage found cylinder 2 had a defective injector that wasn't spraying fuel properly, causing the engine to run rich. They had to replace the injector and clean the fuel system. It was a serious job because a bad injector can damage other engine components if left unfixed. The repair took about a day and a half since they needed to test all injectors and clean carbon deposits that had built up. Since the repair, my X5 has been running smoothly, no more jerking, normal fuel consumption, and proper power delivery. I'd recommend getting this checked soon, as running rich can lead to catalytic converter damage. Look for a shop that specializes in BMW fuel injection systems.
