Thanks for the follow-up! Yeah, these BMW repairs can definitely hit the wallet hard. Interesting that you mentioned the cold weather boot-up delay, I've noticed something similar but wasn't sure if it was just me being paranoid. Good to know it's apparently normal. The backup tip is really smart, I should definitely start doing that too. After spending this much on repairs, I don't want to lose all my settings again! Haven't noticed any quirks since the fix, though. Everything's running smoothly, and the audio quality actually seems better than before, though that might just be my imagination after missing it for a week. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's really helpful to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this. These high-tech features are great until they're not, right? At least now we know what to look out for. If I notice anything else unusual, I'll definitely update the thread. Let's hope both our systems keep running smoothly from here on out!
Thanks for your input on this! Had the exact same symptoms on my X3 (199498 KM). After several attempts to reboot the system, took it to my local shop last week. They also found it was the MOST bus control unit causing the issues. What's interesting is that they initially thought it was just a software glitch, but deeper diagnostics revealed the hardware fault. Ended up being a bit pricier than yours, around 1200 plus labor, but at least it's all sorted now. Been running perfectly since my latest service. Regarding your questions, no other electrical gremlins showed up, thankfully. Just that one isolated system failure. Would definitely recommend others to get it checked out ASAP if they see similar symptoms, seems like these control units are a known weak point in our models.
