Blower does not work properly

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's at 74279 KM since my latest service, and yeah, it's completely dead, no noise at all. The error code I'm getting is 800128, but honestly, I was hoping it'd be something simple like a fuse before having to replace the whole blower motor. Your repair cost sounds about right though, from what I've been researching online. Did you notice any warning signs before yours completely stopped working? Also, how long did the repair take? Just trying to figure out if I need to arrange alternative transport while it's being fixed.
Hey again! Since you asked about warning signs, yeah, actually I did notice some things before my blower completely gave up. For about a month before it died, my blower would sometimes make this weird whining noise, especially when I first started the car. It also started getting a bit inconsistent with airflow, sometimes working fine, other times barely pushing any air through. From what you're describing, sounds exactly like what happened to my X5. Same symptoms, total silence, no airflow at all. And that error code? Pretty much confirms it's the blower motor. I was hoping for a fuse too when mine went out, would've been way cheaper! About the repair time, it actually wasn't too bad. Dropped my car off in the morning and had it back by late afternoon. Think it took them about 3-4 hours total. The mechanic said the trickiest part was accessing the blower motor assembly, but once they got to it, the replacement was straightforward. Quick tip though, if you're going to get it fixed, might be worth asking them to check the regulator too while they're in there. That's what my mechanic suggested, and I'm glad I did because both parts were showing wear. Better to handle it all at once than having to go back in a few months for the regulator.
Thanks so much for all this detailed info! Really helps to hear from someone who went through the same thing. I guess I'll stop hoping it's just a fuse and bite the bullet on the full repair. Good call about checking the regulator too, definitely don't want to deal with this again anytime soon. I'll get it booked in tomorrow then, and plan to work from home that day since it sounds like it'll take most of the day to fix. At least this explains the weird whining noise I'd been hearing occasionally over the past few weeks, wish I'd paid more attention to that warning sign! Really appreciate all your help and tips. It's always better knowing what to expect before heading to the mechanic. I'll probably ask them to do a full check of the ventilation system while they're at it, just to be on the safe side.
Hey! I have some experience working on cars, and I actually dealt with a similar issue on my 2013 BMW X5 last year. The blower motor died completely, super frustrating, especially during weather changes. Took it to my trusted workshop, and they diagnosed a faulty blower motor. Had it replaced along with the regulator, total bill came to about 365 Euro, parts and labor included. The repair solved the problem completely. From what you're describing, it sounds pretty similar to what I experienced. But to help you better, what error code is your X3 showing? Also, does the blower make any noise at all when you turn it on, or is it completely dead? This info would help confirm if you're dealing with the same issue I had. My mechanic mentioned this is somewhat common in older BMW models, including the X series. The 2011-2013 X3s and X5s sometimes have this issue pop up.
