Thanks for sharing your experience! That really helps, as it sounds identical to what I'm dealing with. I'm curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the full repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks pop up? I want to make sure I budget properly and know what to expect.

Hey again! Great to hear back from you! Yes, I do remember the costs, I paid 210 € for the linkage repair and it was absolutely worth every penny. The fuel flap issue is completely sorted now, works like a charm every time. The mechanic really knew what they were doing and fixed it properly the first time around. Since the repair, everything's been working perfectly, no more electrical gremlins or unusual glitches. It's such a relief not having to fiddle with the fuel door anymore or worry about other systems acting up. The central locking and all other functions are working just as they should. If you're experiencing exactly what I did, I'd say go for the repair sooner rather than later. The price I paid was reasonable considering the complexity of the work, and it prevented any further issues from developing. Trust me, it's better to get it sorted now than wait for more problems to pop up! Let me know how it goes when you get it fixed!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from getting it fixed yesterday, what a relief! The mechanic I found was fantastic and really knew their stuff. The whole repair came to about 250 for parts and labor, which wasn't as bad as I'd feared. You were spot on about the central locking system being the culprit. They replaced the faulty unit and did some rewiring, and now everything's working perfectly again. No more wrestling with the fuel door or dealing with those annoying dashboard warnings. The repair took about three hours, but it was worth the wait. Best part is, they gave the whole electrical system a once-over and fixed a few minor issues I hadn't even noticed. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for pushing me to get it sorted quickly, you saved me from what could've been a bigger headache down the road!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 BMW X5 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, it was indeed a defective central locking system linkage. In my case, several electronic functions were affected, including the fuel door and trunk release. Got it fixed at a garage and it turned out to be a more serious problem than expected. The central locking unit had to be replaced along with some wiring harness components. The mechanic also had to reprogram the system after installation. Don't put this off, in my situation, delaying the repair led to more electronic glitches popping up. Make sure you find a workshop that specializes in BMW electronics, as this isn't a straightforward mechanical fix. Worth noting that after repair, all systems went back to normal and I haven't had any issues since. Best of luck!
