BMW X2 Washer & Wiper Systems Gone Dark, Fix Needed
Headlight cleaning system without function

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, sounds almost identical to what I'm dealing with. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been working properly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the washer system? Would be great to know what to expect long-term.
Hey again! Happy to report some good news on my end! After seeing my mechanic, they sorted out that headlight cleaning system fault perfectly. You'll be glad to know it set me back 165 € for fixing the faulty cable connection and relay. Honestly, money well spent, everything's been working like a charm since then. Haven't had a single problem with any of the washer systems since the repair, which was about a year ago now. The wipers, washers, and headlight cleaning system are all functioning exactly as they should. It's such a relief not having to deal with those annoying system failures anymore. I remember being worried it might be something more serious (and expensive!), but it turned out to be a pretty straightforward fix. Just make sure your mechanic thoroughly checks those electrical connections, that's really where the problem usually lies with these systems. Let me know how it goes with yours! Always good to compare notes on these BMW quirks.
Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you. You were spot on! Took your advice and found a BMW specialist. They discovered the same issue, corroded wiring and a bad relay. Total bill came to about 200 bucks, which honestly wasn't as bad as I feared. What a relief to have everything working properly again! The washer sprays perfectly now, and the auto-wipers are back to normal. Even that annoying headlight cleaner is behaving itself. Much better than my last mechanic who wanted to replace the entire pump system. Really appreciate your help on this one. Saved me from potentially spending way more than necessary. Funny how these simple electrical issues can cause such a headache! At least now I know what to look out for if it ever happens again. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my BMW X3 (2016) last year. The symptoms were exactly like yours, complete washer failure and wipers going crazy. Turned out the main washer pump cable had corroded and lost connection near the connector, plus the relay was toast. Got it fixed at my local shop. Not a major repair in terms of complexity, but it needed proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact issue. They had to replace both the pump wiring harness and relay. The headlight washer system was actually connected to the same circuit in my case, which explained why both systems were acting up. The repair was pretty straightforward once they identified the problem. You'll definitely want someone who knows BMWs though, because accessing some of those components can be tricky. It's not a serious mechanical issue that would affect your engine or driving safety, but it needs fixing for proper visibility, especially in bad weather. Just make sure they check both the pump and relay, sometimes mechanics just replace the pump without checking the electrical connections, and then you're back to square one. Best of luck with the repair.
