Thanks for your detailed response! My X2 just hit 159500 KM and had its last service about 2 months ago. The vibrations started about a week ago, mostly when the engine is cold during startup. After warming up, it smooths out a bit but the warning light stays on. I appreciate the insight about the sensor connector, that actually makes sense and would explain the warning light. It's definitely less expensive than replacing engine mounts, so I'll have that checked first. Perhaps I can get it looked at before it gets worse.
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your X2. You know what, this sounds even more similar to what I experienced with my X1 now that you've shared the specifics. Mine also acted up most during cold starts, and the symptoms match perfectly. When my issue started, I also initially thought it was something major like the engine mounts. But I'm really glad I had it checked out quickly before jumping to conclusions. The sensor connection problem can actually mimic more serious issues, which is pretty sneaky! Since you mentioned your car just had service two months ago, I wonder if maybe something got knocked loose during that work. That's actually what happened with mine, turned out the connector got slightly damaged during a routine maintenance check. Quick tip from my experience, have them check all the sensor connections around the areas they worked on during your last service. When my mechanic did this, they found the culprit pretty quickly. Saved me from unnecessarily replacing expensive parts. Let us know what you find out. I'm betting it'll be something similar to what I dealt with, especially given how alike our symptoms are.
Really appreciate your follow-up and the extra advice! That's a great point about checking what might have been disturbed during the last service, I hadn't even considered that angle. You've actually made me feel a lot better about this whole situation, especially knowing it might not be as expensive or complicated as I initially feared. I've just booked an appointment to get it checked out tomorrow morning. I'll definitely have them look at all those sensor connections first, particularly around the areas they worked on during the recent service. It's such a relief to hear that your similar issue had a straightforward fix. I'll make sure to ask them to specifically check for loose or damaged connectors before they start replacing any expensive parts. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. It's been super helpful in giving me a clearer direction on what to look out for. I'll definitely update the thread once I know what's actually causing the problem.
Hey there! I have some experience working on BMWs. Had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW X1 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound really familiar, I was getting those exact same problems. Turned out it was a loose connector on one of the engine sensors. Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed it quickly. The cable connector was damaged and needed replacement. Total bill came to about 95 Euro, mostly labor since the part itself wasn't expensive. The fix took about an hour and the problems disappeared completely. Before jumping to conclusions about engine mounts, could you share: How many miles/kilometers on your X2? When did these symptoms first appear? Does it happen more when the engine is cold or warm? This could help narrow down if you're dealing with the same issue I had on my X1.
