Uneven Ride Height

Anyone dealt with faulty height control on a 2023 BMW X2? Having issues with uneven ride height, warning light on the dash, misaligned headlights, and system error codes. Looking to hear about your repair experiences and what the workshop did to fix it. What was the actual problem in your case?

Hey there! I've got some experience with cars (low experience) and had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW X1. The symptoms were pretty much identical, uneven ride height, warning lights, and those annoying headlight alignment problems. Took it to my workshop and turned out it was a defective control rod on the sensor. The fix wasn't too complicated but cost me around 110 Euro. The mechanics replaced the faulty part, recalibrated the system, and everything's been working perfectly since then. What's the mileage on your X2? Also, did you notice if the issue started suddenly or gradually got worse? This info would help me understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My X2 just hit 66213 KM and had its latest service last month. The issue started quite suddenly, right after hitting a deep pothole. It's good to know your fix wasn't too complicated. I was hoping it might be covered under warranty since my car is still pretty new. I've already scheduled an appointment with the service center but wanted to hear some first-hand experiences before going in. Did your workshop mention anything about potential damage to other components while they were fixing it?

Hey again! Good to hear back from you. Yeah, with that mileage and being a 2023 model, you should definitely be covered under warranty. My case was a bit different since my X1 was already out of warranty when it happened. When I had mine fixed, the workshop actually did a thorough check of the surrounding components. They mentioned that the pothole impact (I had a similar incident) could potentially affect the air suspension components and other connecting parts. In my case, they found some minor wear on the bushings, but nothing serious enough to require replacement. Just a heads up, after they fixed mine, they had to do a complete system calibration which took a couple of hours. The mechanic explained that this was crucial to ensure everything was properly aligned. Since you mentioned hitting a pothole, maybe ask them to check the wheel alignment too, mine needed a slight adjustment after the repair. One more thing, my problem started exactly like yours, suddenly after an impact. Looking back, I wish I'd gotten it checked immediately because driving with uneven height can put extra stress on other suspension components. Let me know what the service center says, I'm curious if they find the same issue as mine!

Thanks so much for all those details! That's really helpful to know about the calibration time, I'll make sure to arrange alternative transport for the day. I was a bit worried about potential damage to other parts, so I'm glad you mentioned getting the wheel alignment checked too. Will definitely ask them to look at that. You're right about getting it checked quickly. I actually booked the appointment the same day the warning light came on, didn't want to risk making anything worse. It's reassuring to hear that your repair went smoothly, even though yours wasn't under warranty. I'll post an update once the service center checks it out, hopefully it'll be something straightforward like yours was. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
