BMW X2 Engine Light On, PCV Valve Issue Suspected?

Hi all, my 2022 BMW X2 with the gas engine is acting up. The engine light is on, power feels restricted, and speed keeps fluctuating. I suspect it might be the crankcase ventilation valve. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Would like to know your repair experiences and what the mechanics actually found. Any tips on diagnosis would be great too.

Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and faced something very similar with my 2020 BMW X1. The symptoms were exactly the same, engine light, sluggish acceleration, and unstable speed. Took it to my regular workshop and they confirmed it was indeed the crankcase ventilation system causing the trouble. The repair took about 3-4 hours, and I ended up paying around 360 Euro for parts and labor. The performance difference after the fix was like night and day! What's your current mileage and have you noticed any oil consumption issues? Also, does it run rough when idling? This info would help me share more relevant details from my experience. If you've got the same issue, don't wait too long to get it fixed, it can lead to bigger problems if left unchecked.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My car's at 28003 KM and just had its service last month. Yeah, I've noticed it running a bit rough at idle, especially after a cold start. The engine seems to stumble a bit before settling into a normal rhythm. No major oil consumption yet, but I've been keeping a close eye on it since these symptoms started. Your repair cost seems reasonable, definitely better than letting it turn into something bigger. Gonna try to get it checked out this week. Did your mechanic mention any particular brand of replacement parts they used?

Hey again! Glad you're getting it checked out soon. Yeah, when my X1 had these issues, it showed those exact same cold start symptoms. The rough idle was super annoying, especially on those chilly mornings. For the parts, my mechanic actually used genuine BMW components. They mentioned they could've gone with aftermarket parts to save some cash, but given how the crankcase ventilation system is pretty crucial for the engine's health, I decided to stick with OEM. The part number was something like 11617645422 if I remember correctly. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, after they fixed mine, the mechanic recommended changing the oil a bit earlier than the usual interval for the next service. Said it helps make sure any potential debris from the old valve gets cleared out properly. Did it about 2000 KM early and haven't had a single issue since. If it turns out to be the same problem as mine, you're looking at a pretty straightforward fix. Just make sure they check the connecting hoses too while they're at it, sometimes they can get brittle and might need replacing at the same time.

Thanks so much for all these details, really helpful! I definitely appreciate the tip about going with OEM parts. I'll make sure to ask my mechanic about that specific part number you mentioned. The early oil change recommendation makes total sense too, and I'll definitely plan on doing that. Good call about checking the hoses as well, might as well get everything looked at while they're in there. It's really reassuring to hear your car's been running smoothly since the repair. I've already called my mechanic and got an appointment for tomorrow morning, so hopefully I'll be back to normal driving soon. I'll probably update this thread once I get the diagnosis and repair done, just in case anyone else runs into the same issue. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience!
