BMW X2 Check Engine Light: Error 80528B

Check engine light on

Hello everyone, I own a 2021 BMW X2 with 40,000 km on it, and recently the check engine light came on. I used Carly to diagnose the issue, and it returned the error code 80528B, which indicates 'Metering line heating, activation: Line disconnection.' I'm not sure how to proceed with fixing this problem. Has anyone experienced this issue before, and what steps did you take to resolve it? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Start by checking the wiring and connections related to the metering line heating system for any visible damage or disconnection. Ensure all connectors are securely attached. If everything appears intact, it might be best to have a professional mechanic inspect it further, as this could affect engine performance. Let us know how it goes or if you have any more questions!

The light only came on after I had the car serviced and the front bumper replaced after hitting a deer. Where do I find this line on the car?

The metering line heating system is typically located near the engine bay, often connected to the fuel system or emissions components. Since the issue arose after a front-end repair, it's possible that a connection was disturbed during the bumper replacement. Carefully inspect the area around the engine bay and the front of the vehicle for any loose or disconnected wires. If you're unsure or unable to locate it, I recommend having a professional mechanic take a look, especially since it might involve critical components. Let me know if you need further assistance!
