BMW X2 Boost Sensor Failure Symptoms & Solutions

Help needed: BMW X2 2019 Diesel acting up, Boost sensor issue? Hey everyone! My X2 (2019, diesel, 144k km) is giving me some trouble and I've lost trust in my regular mechanic after a bad experience. The engine's acting weird with jerking during acceleration, whistling/hissing noises, and occasional stalling at idle. Check engine light is on, and I'm burning through fuel faster than usual. Power feels noticeably reduced too. I suspect it might be the boost pressure sensor based on these symptoms. Has anyone dealt with similar issues? Would love to hear about your experiences and recommendations for fixing this, especially if you've had the boost sensor replaced. Thanks in advance!

Had the same issues with my BMW X1 2016 diesel last month. Initially thought it was the turbo going bad because of the whistling, but turned out to be much simpler. The boost pressure sensor connector was loose and corroded, causing those exact symptoms, power loss, weird acceleration, and excessive fuel consumption. The mechanic showed me that the wiring harness connection to the sensor was the culprit. There was visible corrosion on the pins, and one of the clips was broken. They cleaned the connector, replaced the damaged clip, and secured it properly. No sensor replacement needed. Quick fix, but could've been serious if left unchecked, apparently, running with wrong boost readings can damage the turbo over time. The car's been running perfectly since then, no more jerking or whistling. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon, as these symptoms usually don't resolve themselves.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This is super helpful as it sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey again! Glad I could help with my previous reply. After I took it to the mechanic, they confirmed it was indeed just the boost pressure sensor acting up due to that faulty connection. The total bill came to 95 € for fixing the cable and cleaning up the corroded connector, way cheaper than I initially feared! And you'll be happy to know that since getting it sorted, my X1's been running like a dream. No more of that annoying whistling or jerky acceleration, and my fuel consumption is back to normal. It's been about six weeks now, and I haven't had a single issue pop up. The check engine light disappeared right after the fix too. It's funny how such a small thing can cause so many problems, right? Best decision I made was getting it checked out quickly instead of waiting around hoping it would fix itself. Just make sure whoever looks at yours checks those connections properly, it's often the simple things that cause the biggest headaches!

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you all! You were spot on, it was exactly what you described. The mechanic found corrosion on the boost sensor connector and a partially damaged clip. The fix was way simpler than I expected. Total cost was around 120 bucks for cleaning, replacing the clip, and labor. Such a relief compared to what I was expecting to pay! The car's running perfectly now, no more jerking or weird noises, and the check engine light's gone. Feels like I got my old car back. Honestly, I was worried it might be something major with the turbo itself. Really glad I asked here first instead of jumping to conclusions. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, you saved me from possibly spending way more than necessary at my old mechanic's!
