Thanks for your detailed response! My X2 just hit 113,548 KM after my latest service last month, and I've tried the phone reset you mentioned but no luck. I'm using the latest iPhone with current updates, and I've already cleared all Bluetooth connections and started fresh. The weird thing is, it worked perfectly until about two weeks ago. Now it's just completely unpredictable. The connection drops even when I'm just sitting in the parking lot listening to music. I'll probably try your suggestion about the complete infotainment reset. Did your tech mention how long the whole process took? I'm hoping to avoid a long dealership visit if possible.
Ah yes, I remember dealing with this exact headache with my X3! When I had the infotainment system reset done, the whole process took about an hour, my tech explained they needed to back up some settings first before doing the complete wipe and reinstall. It's interesting you mention it worked fine until two weeks ago. That's exactly how mine started acting up too, it was perfectly fine for months, then suddenly went haywire. The tech mentioned these issues sometimes pop up after the car gets a certain mileage on it. My X3 was around 98,000 KM when the problems started. One thing I forgot to mention in my earlier response, after they did the reset, they also had to update some kind of Bluetooth module firmware. That's what took most of the time, but it was totally worth the wait. Haven't had a single disconnect since then. Quick tip though, make sure to write down all your favorite radio presets and settings before you go in. The reset will wipe everything clean, and I learned that the hard way! Had to spend ages setting everything back up again. Keep me posted on how it goes. If the reset doesn't solve it, there might be a few other tricks they tried with mine that could help.
Thanks so much for all these details, super helpful! It's such a relief to hear someone else went through the same thing and got it fixed. I've already made notes of all my presets and settings after reading your warning, definitely don't want to lose those! I actually just booked an appointment for tomorrow morning. The service advisor mentioned they're familiar with this issue, which makes me feel better about the whole thing. They quoted me about the same time frame you mentioned, roughly an hour for the complete reset and firmware update. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, especially the heads-up about the Bluetooth module firmware update. I'll make sure to ask them specifically about that. Will let you know how it goes, but feeling much more confident now about getting this sorted out. Thanks again for walking me through your experience with this!
I have some experience with car electronics, and I faced a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X3. The Bluetooth connectivity was driving me nuts, kept dropping calls and wouldn't stay paired with my phone. Took it to my regular workshop, and turns out it was just a software pairing issue. The tech had to do a complete reset of the infotainment system and update the software. Cost me 45 Euro for the diagnostic and fix, but it's been working perfectly since then. What phone are you using with your X2? Also, have you tried resetting your phone's Bluetooth settings completely? This info would help figure out if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Before going to the workshop, I'd suggest checking if your phone's software is up to date too. Let me know these details, and I might be able to share more specific tips from my experience.
