Thanks for sharing your experience! My X1 has 95382 KM on the clock and just had its service last month. Haven't had any battery work done recently, but I'm seeing a "Check Control Message" with a yellow warning symbol. It's definitely frustrating since everything else seems to be running fine. Wondering if I need to take it to a workshop or if there's a way to clear these codes without professional help. Really appreciate the input about your X3 experience, helps to know I'm not alone with these BMW quirks!
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your X1. You know what, that's actually quite similar to what happened after my X3's service. Even though my battery wasn't touched, sometimes these warning messages can pop up if certain sensors get disturbed during routine maintenance. My car had around 90K on the clock when it happened too. While I managed to get my codes cleared at the workshop for free, I wouldn't recommend trying to clear them yourself. I learned this the hard way, tried using a 's basic code reader once and it just made things more complicated. BMWs can be pretty sensitive with their electronics, and you really need the proper diagnostic equipment to get it sorted properly. Since you just had a service, I'd suggest giving your service center a call. They might be able to do a quick reset for you under the recent service warranty. That's what worked for me. These "Check Control Messages" can be tricky, sometimes they're nothing serious, but it's better to have a pro check it out, especially with our BMW electronics being so interconnected. Let me know how it goes! Always happy to share what I've learned from my BMW adventures.
Thanks so much for the detailed advice! You've definitely put my mind at ease about this. I'll give my service center a call tomorrow, really good point about it possibly being covered under the recent service warranty. Didn't even think about that! Makes total sense about not messing with the codes myself. Was tempted to buy one of those generic code readers online, but after what you've said about your experience, I'll definitely leave it to the pros. These German cars really do need their proper diagnostic tools, don't they? I'll update you once I get it sorted. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your BMW experiences, it's been super helpful! Just hoping it's as straightforward as your X3 situation and nothing more serious.
Hey there! I have some experience with BMWs. I actually had a similar issue with my 2012 BMW X3 (also had this with my old 3 Series). Got those annoying error messages and fault codes too. Just had this checked last month, actually. The workshop plugged in their diagnostic tool and cleared the codes, turned out it was just a false reading after my battery was disconnected during some routine maintenance. Didn't cost me anything since they just needed to reset the system. Could you tell me if you've had any recent work done on the car or if the battery was disconnected at some point? Also, what's the exact error message you're seeing? This would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience.
