Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm relieved to hear you got it sorted out. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything stayed running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if I should expect any related problems down the line with my X1.
Hey again! Yes, I definitely remember the cost, it was 515 € for fixing the faulty injector. And I'm happy to report that since getting it fixed, my X3 has been running absolutely perfect! The Reset quantity drift compensation issue was completely resolved after they replaced the defective injection valve. I've put quite a few kilometers on it since the repair and haven't had a single problem. No more rough running, no check engine lights, nothing. The engine's running super smooth now, and my fuel economy is right back where it should be. Honestly, while the repair wasn't cheap, it was totally worth it to get the car running properly again. Just make sure you get it sorted soon, like I mentioned before, these injection problems can get worse if you leave them too long. The peace of mind knowing it's properly fixed is worth every cent. Let me know how you get on with yours, always interested to hear how these fixes work out for others!
Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took my X1 to a mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was definitely the injector. Had it replaced and wow, what a difference! Cost me about 490 € in total, which wasn't as bad as I was fearing. The mechanic I found was actually great. Really took the time to explain everything and even showed me the old injector. Could clearly see it was pretty worn out. They did a thorough job, cleaned everything up, and recalibrated the system. Took it for a drive this morning and it's like having a completely different car! No more rough idle, engine's purring smoothly, and that annoying check engine light is finally gone. Fuel consumption seems better already too. Really appreciate everyone's input, helped me feel more confident about getting it sorted. Definitely the right call to fix it sooner rather than later. Now I can finally enjoy driving my BMW again without worrying about every little noise!
Hey there! I had a pretty similar issue with my 2019 BMW X3 diesel last year. The symptoms you're describing match exactly what I experienced, rough idle, misfires, and that annoying check engine light. After getting it checked, turned out one of the injectors was defective and needed replacement. It was a serious issue that required immediate attention because faulty injectors can lead to poor fuel economy, more emissions, and potential engine damage if left unchecked. My injector was leaking internally, causing uneven fuel distribution. The mechanic had to replace the problematic injector and recalibrate the injection system. They also cleaned the other injectors while they were at it. The whole job took about a day. Since the repair, my X3 has been running smooth as silk. No more rough starts, no misfires, and fuel economy is back to normal. Don't wait too long to get this fixed, injector issues can get worse pretty quickly. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with BMW diesel engines and the right diagnostic equipment. These modern injection systems are pretty complex.
