Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Really helpful to hear that it was a similar issue with your X3. Can I ask how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, wondering if you've had any other AC-related problems pop up since getting it fixed? Getting some ballpark figures would really help me prepare for what's ahead with my X1.

Hey again! Happy to follow up! Just got my X1 back from the shop actually. And guess what, it was exactly what I suspected after seeing your post. The rear ventilation flap issue was sorted out pretty quickly. They found a dodgy cable connection that was causing all the trouble. Much simpler fix than I initially feared! Only set me back 95 Euro, which was a huge relief considering I was worried it might be something major. Since getting it fixed last week, the AC's been working like a charm, both front and rear controls are responding perfectly. No more climate control headaches! Haven't had any other AC problems since the repair, and the mechanic said the rest of the system looks in good shape. They did a thorough check while they were at it, which was reassuring. Sounds like we both got lucky with relatively straightforward fixes. These BMW climate systems can be tricky, but when you find the right mechanic who knows what they're doing, it makes all the difference. Let me know how yours turns out!

What a relief to hear back from you! Thanks for circling back with those details. After your first message, I finally bit the bullet and took my X1 to a different mechanic yesterday. You're right, finding someone who knows these systems makes such a difference! Turned out my issue was pretty similar. The mechanic spotted a faulty connection right away and fixed it within a couple of hours. Cost me about 120 Euro, which wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The AC's now blowing nice and cold again, and I've got full control of all the settings. They also gave the whole system a quick inspection and told me everything else looks good. Honestly, I'm just glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. The summer heat was starting to get to me! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get this sorted. Now I can finally enjoy driving my X1 again without sweating bullets!

Hey there! Had the exact same issue with my 2012 BMW X3 last summer. The symptoms were identical, AC stopped cooling and lost control of the rear settings. Turned out the actuator cable connection to the ventilation flap had come loose and was barely making contact. Took it to the garage where they found corrosion on the connector pins too. They had to replace the entire rear actuator assembly and clean up the wiring harness. While not a major mechanical issue, it needed proper diagnosis because these symptoms can also point to other AC problems. The fix wasn't too complex, but it required special diagnostic tools to properly calibrate the new actuator. My advice would be to get it checked at a shop that specializes in BMW climate control systems. This isn't something you'd want a general mechanic to guess their way through. The car's been working perfectly since the repair, both front and rear climate control are back to normal. Best of luck with yours!
