Hey, no problem, you're welcome! With the mileage and the last inspection so recently, it could of course be something else, but the engine control unit is definitely something that should be checked. Incidentally, it could also be the mass air flow sensor or a faulty sensor such as the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Both can cause similar problems. If you're at the garage, have them check the ignition coils and spark plugs too - a fault in one of these areas can also cause many of the symptoms you've described. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it won't be too expensive and that you'll soon be back on the road without any problems! Let me know what the garage says. Best regards!

Hey, many thanks for the additional tips! I will definitely check the mass air flow sensor and the various sensors. I'll also have the ignition coils and spark plugs checked, that sounds logical. I really hope that the problem can be solved quickly and without too much expense. I'll let you know what the workshop finds out. Best regards!

Based on the error codes you've provided, it seems like there are misfires in multiple cylinders. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as faulty spark plugs, ignition coils, or fuel injectors. I would recommend starting with the easiest check - inspect the spark plugs and ignition coils, especially for cylinder 3. If these are in good condition, you might want to check the fuel injectors next. Also, the error related to the Lambda probe heater suggests there might be an issue with the oxygen sensor. This could be affecting the fuel-air mixture, leading to poor fuel consumption and black smoke from the exhaust. Lastly, the LIN BUS communication error with the water pump could be a separate issue altogether. It might be best to have a professional mechanic look into this. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.

Bmw z4 30 sdrive 2011 misfire on 4, just started. Car serviced 2 months ago, and heart box.
A misfire on cylinder 4 could be due to several reasons. Start by checking the spark plug for cylinder 4. If it's worn or fouled, it might need to be replaced. If the spark plug is fine, the next step would be to inspect the ignition coil for that cylinder. If both the spark plug and ignition coil are in good condition, the issue could be with the fuel injector for cylinder 4. Remember, if you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, it's always a good idea to have a professional mechanic look at it. Misfires can lead to other problems if not addressed promptly. @Wilfredo
I changed the spark plugs and now it has a failure.
If you're experiencing issues after changing the spark plugs, it's possible that they might not have been installed correctly or they could be the wrong type for your vehicle. I would suggest double-checking the installation and ensuring that the spark plugs are the correct ones for your car model. If the problem persists, it might be a good idea to have a professional mechanic inspect your vehicle to avoid any potential damage. Please keep us updated on your progress.
Hey, I had a similar problem with my BMW X3 (built in 2018). I have some experience with cars, but when it comes to more complex things like this, I prefer to trust the garage. My car also had a loss of power and the Check Engine light was on. It turned out that the engine control unit was faulty. I had it checked and confirmed at the garage. The replacement cost me around 1000 euros. I would recommend that you have the engine control unit checked first. It could also be the case with your X1. If you have more information about the symptoms of your car, I may be able to give you more detailed tips. Good luck!
