Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful and sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. This definitely gives me some peace of mind. Would you mind sharing how much the cleaning and calibration service cost you? Also, have you had any issues pop up since the repair? I'm trying to get a sense of whether this is a one-time fix or if I should expect it to happen again.

Hey again! Following up on your questions, I just had my radar sensor cleaned and calibrated last month, and it cost me 45€. Pretty reasonable, especially since I was worried it might need a complete replacement! The mechanic said it was just really dirty from all the road grime buildup. Great news, everything's been working perfectly since the fix. No more Christmas tree dashboard or warning messages. The adaptive cruise control and collision warning systems are back to normal. Such a relief it wasn't anything major! The mechanic mentioned it's worth keeping an eye on during regular car washes, especially the area behind the front badge where the sensor sits. He suggested giving it extra attention when cleaning to prevent the same issue from happening again. Though honestly, I'd gone nearly two years before this happened, so it's not like it's a constant problem. Feel free to ask if you need anything else! Always happy to help a fellow BMW owner.

Thanks for all the advice! Just wanted to update you on what happened. Finally got the car checked out yesterday. You were spot on, it was just dirt and grime messing with the sensor. The mechanic I found was actually great. Super transparent about everything. Got the cleaning and calibration done for about 50€. He showed me exactly what was causing the problem and even gave me some tips about keeping the sensor area clean. Way better outcome than I expected! No more warning lights, and all systems are working perfectly now. Such a relief it wasn't something major. I was imagining having to shell out thousands for a new sensor. Feels good to have found a trustworthy mechanic too. After my last bad experience, I was pretty nervous about where to take it. Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction with this!

Hey there! I actually faced similar radar sensor issues with my 2016 BMW M3 last month. The dashboard went crazy with warnings, adaptive cruise control failed, collision warning system offline, and other alerts popping up. Took it to my mechanic and turns out the radar sensor behind the front badge was just heavily coated with road grime and debris. It wasn't a major repair at all. They cleaned the sensor housing, recalibrated the system, and everything went back to normal. If you're getting similar symptoms, it's likely not a serious issue. Though sometimes the sensor itself can fail and need replacement, that's what I initially feared. In my case, just needed a thorough cleaning and calibration. The whole job took about two hours. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with BMW driver assistance systems. The calibration process is pretty specific to these models. Hope this helps!
