Thanks for sharing your experience! My M2 has 141943 KM on the clock and had its last service just two months ago. The sunblind doesn't make any noise at all when I try to operate it, it's completely dead silent. The error code I'm getting is B7F3E4, which from what I understand points to a motor issue too. Good to know this seems to be a common thing with these models. Really helpful to hear about the repair cost and timeframe, gives me a better idea of what I'm looking at. Guess I'll need to book it in soon and get this sorted.
Hey again! Thanks for the additional details about your M2. Yeah, that error code and the complete silence when trying to operate the sunblind are exactly what I experienced with my M4. When mine failed, it was also totally quiet, no struggling noise, no clicking, nothing. Since you mentioned the mileage and recent service, I should add that mine failed at around 130,000 KM, so we're in a similar ballpark. The weird thing is, these motors tend to just give up without warning. Mine was working perfectly fine one day, and the next, completely dead. Based on the error code and symptoms, I'm pretty confident you're dealing with the same motor failure I had. The complete silence is usually a dead giveaway. In my case, replacing the motor assembly was the only solution, no amount of resetting or cleaning helped. Just a heads up, when you get it fixed, make sure they do a proper calibration after installing the new motor. My workshop initially skipped this step, and I had to bring it back because the blind wasn't closing properly at the edges. Small detail, but makes a difference in the long run. Let me know how it goes when you get it fixed!
Thanks a lot for all the detailed info! Really helps to hear from someone who's been through the exact same thing. Super grateful for the tip about the calibration too, I'll definitely make sure to mention that when I take it in. My regular workshop should be able to handle this, but I might give them a heads up about the calibration part just to be safe. I've actually just booked it in for next week, and your experience has made me feel a lot better about what to expect. The cost isn't as bad as I was worried it might be, and at least it seems like a straightforward fix. Fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as yours did! Thanks again for taking the time to share all this, it's been really helpful. I'll update once it's all sorted!
Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2016 BMW M4 last year. The sunblind got completely stuck, and it was super annoying. After scanning it, my workshop confirmed the motor was shot. Ended up costing me about 330 Euro for the full fix, they had to replace the entire sunblind motor assembly. The repair took about half a day, and it's been working perfectly since then. By the way, my with a BMW M3 had the exact same problem, so it seems to be somewhat common with these models. Could you share what error code you're getting? Also, does your sunblind make any noise when you try to operate it? This info would help me tell if you're dealing with the same issue I had.
