Thanks for the detailed response! My M2 has about 179652 KM on the clock, and I'm getting error code P2532. Haven't had any recent bumper work, and it happens right from startup. I tried cleaning around the sensors myself but no luck. Took it to get serviced last month but this issue started after that. Definitely going to check those wiring connections you mentioned, seems like a good place to start. Would rather sort this out sooner than later since reverse parking is becoming a real pain without the sensors working properly.
Hey again! Thanks for coming back with those details about your M2. Looking at that P2532 code and knowing it started after your service, that rings some bells. When I had my M4 issue, I actually discovered that sometimes service work can accidentally disturb the sensor connections, even if they're not directly working on that system. Just adding to my previous experience, after I had the wiring fixed, I actually found out that during routine maintenance, one of the sensor connectors had been slightly knocked out of position. The mechanics might have bumped it while working on something else. Pretty easy to happen, especially with that many kilometers on the clock where connections might already be a bit loose. Since you mentioned it's happening right from startup, I'm even more convinced it's likely the same wiring issue I had. One thing I learned, make sure they check all the connections, not just the obvious ones. In my case, they initially only looked at the rear sensors, but the problem was actually in the main harness connection. Would definitely recommend getting it checked out soon. Living without parking sensors is doable but really annoying, especially in tight spots. Let me know how it goes, curious to see if it's the same problem I had!
Thanks for the follow-up! Really appreciate you sharing those extra details about your M4 experience. I called my mechanic and managed to get an appointment for next week. I mentioned the wiring harness issue you had, and they agreed it's worth checking, especially since my problem started right after the service. Makes total sense about the connections getting knocked loose during maintenance, hadn't thought of that! You're right about getting it sorted quickly. I've been managing without the sensors, but had a close call yesterday trying to back into a tight spot. Fingers crossed it's just a loose connection like yours was. The two-hour repair time you mentioned sounds way better than what I was worried it might be. I'll definitely update you once I get it checked out. Thanks again for all the help, exactly the kind of real-world experience I was hoping to hear about!
Hey there! I've got some experience with BMWs and had a pretty similar issue with my 2020 BMW M4 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I went through, those annoying constant beeps and non-responsive sensors. Turned out to be a faulty wiring connection to the parking sensor module. My mechanic found that one of the connectors had corroded, causing the whole system to go haywire. The fix took about 2 hours, and I paid around 95 Euro for the repair. They basically had to clean the connector and replace a damaged cable. Pretty straightforward job once they identified the problem. Before I can help more specifically, could you share: Which error code you're getting? Have you noticed any water damage or had any recent bumper work done? Does this happen right after starting the car or only after driving for a while? Let me know these details, and I might be able to point you in the right direction!
