Thanks for the input! Mine's also at 184500 KM and just had a service last month. Actually got it scanned yesterday, throwing a P2135 code. The symptoms came on quite suddenly during highway driving. Interesting that you mention the accelerator pedal module, the price seems reasonable compared to what I was worrying about. Been dreading it might be something more serious with the throttle body which I heard can cost a fortune. Did your idle fluctuate a lot before you got it fixed? Mine's jumping between 1000-1500 RPM at standstill, which is driving me nuts. Wondering if it's showing the same behavior as your case. Really appreciate the help from a fellow BMW owner!
Hey again! Yeah, you're describing exactly what I experienced with my M4, that erratic idle behavior between 1000-1500 RPM was super familiar. Mine did the same thing, and it was really annoying, especially in traffic. The P2135 code is actually what I got too, which points to the throttle position sensor circuit. I was also worried about the throttle body at first (and those repair bills!), but the accelerator pedal module was the culprit. These electronic gremlins can be tricky to diagnose. Mine started acting up on a longer drive too, just like yours, one minute everything was fine, and the next, boom, limp mode. Since your symptoms are matching mine so closely, and you've got the same error code, I'd put money on it being the accelerator pedal module. The mileage is pretty similar too, mine was around 175000 KM when it happened. Quick tip though, if you're getting it replaced, make sure they do the programming right after. I've heard some folks had issues when the new module wasn't properly coded to the car. The repair price I mentioned earlier included everything, parts, labor, and programming. Still a bargain compared to a throttle body replacement! Let me know how it goes if you get it checked out. Always happy to help another M owner!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! This really puts my mind at ease, especially knowing you had such similar symptoms with the same error code. I've actually just booked it in at my regular shop for tomorrow morning, sent them screenshots of our conversation too, so they can check the accelerator pedal module first. You're absolutely right about it being way better than dealing with throttle body issues. I'll make sure to ask them about the programming part too, good catch on that one. Definitely don't want to deal with any follow-up problems. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience in such detail. It's exactly what I needed to hear. I'll update you once I get it sorted, hopefully with the same happy ending as yours! Thanks again for all the help, BMW community coming through!
Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 BMW M4 last summer. I've got some experience working on cars as a hobby mechanic. My car showed exactly the same symptoms, limp mode, high idle, and the throttle wasn't responding properly. Took it to my trusted workshop and turns out it was the accelerator pedal module that was acting up. They replaced the whole unit and reprogrammed it, cost me around 265 Euro total. Car's been running perfectly since then. Could be the same issue with your M2, but I'd need more info to be sure. Have you scanned for error codes? Also, when did these symptoms first appear, was it sudden or gradual? These details would help narrow down if we're dealing with the same problem. The M series can be tricky with electronic issues, but once you find the root cause, it's usually a straightforward fix. Let me know the details and I'll try to help further!
