Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's at 66039 KM and had its latest service just 2 months ago. The issue started about a week ago completely out of nowhere. No other electrical problems that I've noticed, everything else works perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I can't read the error code myself since I don't have the diagnostic tool. It's really strange since it was working perfectly fine before. I'm hoping it's just a minor wiring issue like yours. Would you recommend I take it to the dealer or would a good BMW specialist workshop be sufficient? Just trying to avoid unnecessary expenses if possible.
Hey again! Since we're discussing my M3 experience from last year, definitely go with a good BMW specialist workshop. After my issue, I've learned that dealers often charge way more for basically the same repair. The specialist workshop I used had all the necessary diagnostic tools and BMW-specific expertise. Just to add to my previous repair story, my issue also came out of nowhere when the car was around 58000 KM. It's interesting that yours started similarly, and like yours, everything else was working fine on my car too. These electrical gremlins can be pretty unusual! The repair at my specialist shop took about 2-3 hours total, including diagnostics. They showed me the faulty wiring, it was actually a bit corroded near the connection point, which isn't uncommon in these models. Since your mileage and symptoms are so similar to what I experienced, I'd bet it's the same issue. Quick tip though, make sure whatever shop you choose has experience with modern BMWs. They'll need the right diagnostic equipment to properly read and clear those error codes. Better to pay a bit more for someone who knows what they're doing than risk having to fix it twice!
Thanks so much for all this detailed advice! You've really put my mind at ease about the whole situation. I actually know a specialist BMW workshop nearby that's got great reviews, so I'll give them a call tomorrow. It's super helpful knowing that your repair only took a few hours, makes me feel better about not having to leave my car at the shop for days. Really appreciate you sharing the specifics about your experience and the corrosion issue. It does sound like our problems are pretty similar, especially with how out of nowhere they started. I was worried it might be something major, but hearing about your relatively simple fix gives me hope. I'll make sure to ask them to check the wiring connections first. Good call about making sure they have the right diagnostic equipment too, I'll definitely check that when I call them. Thanks again for taking the time to help out. I'll probably update here once I get it fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW M3 last year. I have some basic experience working on cars but nothing too technical. My cruise control also stopped working suddenly and got those annoying dash warnings. Took it to my trusted workshop where they diagnosed a faulty cable connection to the cruise control module. The repair wasn't too complicated, they had to replace some wiring and reconnect everything properly. Cost me around 95 Euro and fixed the problem completely. Could you share more details about your M2? Like when did this start happening and are there any other electrical issues you've noticed? Also, do you know what specific error code is stored? This would help compare if it's the same issue I had. Don't worry too much though, these BMWs sometimes have quirky electrical gremlins that usually turn out to be simple fixes!
