Thanks for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know about the wiring harness issue, as I'm seeing similar symptoms. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other electrical gremlins popping up? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what I might be facing with my M2.

Hey! Glad I could help explain the wiring issue! Just to update you, yes, everything's been working perfectly since I got it fixed. The airbag warning light hasn't come back on once, and the system's been functioning just as it should. There haven't been any other electrical issues either, which is a relief. The repair was actually much more straightforward than I initially thought. The mechanic found it was just a faulty cable connection that needed fixing, nothing as major as replacing the entire harness like I'd feared. The total bill came to 95 € which was way less than I expected. Much better than having to replace the whole wiring assembly! Trust me, getting it sorted properly through a certified tech was definitely the right call. For a safety system like this, you want to make sure it's done right. Hope this helps with your decision making! Let me know if you need any other info about my experience with the repair.

That's such a relief to hear about your positive experience! Took your advice and finally got my M2 checked out yesterday. Turns out it was also a wiring issue, but in my case, it was a loose connector near the steering column. The certified tech spotted it right away with their diagnostic tools. The repair was quick and didn't break the bank, actually cost less than I'd budgeted for. The warning light's gone now, and everything's working perfectly. Feel so much better knowing the safety systems are all functioning properly again. Really glad I asked here first. Was stressing about this way more than I needed to! Thanks again for pushing me to get it properly checked by certified professionals. Definitely saved me from making a costly mistake by trying to fix it myself or going to an unqualified mechanic.

Had the same issue with my 2014 BMW M4. The airbag warning light was driving me nuts last month. Took it to the dealership service center, and they diagnosed a faulty connection in the wiring harness under the driver's seat. The cable had gotten pinched and worn over time from seat adjustments. They had to replace the entire wiring harness assembly. It wasn't a quick fix as they had to remove the seat to access everything properly. This is actually a serious safety concern since it affects the airbag deployment system. Don't try to fix this yourself or go to a regular mechanic. With airbag systems, you really need certified techs with proper diagnostic tools. The dealer might be pricier, but they'll have the right equipment and know-how for these safety systems. My car's back to normal now with no warning lights.
