Thanks so much for the detailed response about your M4! Really helpful to hear about your experience. Can't believe how similar the symptoms are to what I'm dealing with. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Yeah, absolutely no problem! I remember you asking about the costs. It set me back 590 € for the whole job, which included replacing the faulty air suspension bellows valve and all the calibration work. Honestly, considering how much better the car runs now, it was worth every penny. And I'm happy to report that since getting it fixed last year, my M4 has been running like a dream! No more wonky suspension, no more error messages, and the transmission shifts are butter smooth again. It's amazing how one faulty valve can mess with so many different systems. The mechanic did a proper job diagnosing and fixing it, showed me exactly what was wrong with the old valve too. If you're still looking for someone to do the work, I'd say just make sure they're familiar with BMW air suspension systems. It's not rocket science, but you want someone who knows what they're doing. Trust me, once you get it sorted, you'll feel the difference right away. The car just feels planted and stable again, like it should.
Thanks for sharing all the details! After seeing your response, I bit the bullet and took my M2 to a new mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was the bellows valve causing all the trouble. The bill came to a bit more than what you paid, around 700€, but the mechanic was super professional and thorough. The whole repair took just a day, and wow, what a difference! The car's sitting perfectly level now, those annoying error messages are gone, and it's handling like a dream again. The transmission's shifting perfectly too. Should've done this weeks ago instead of worrying about it. The mechanic showed me the old valve, it was in terrible shape. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. Thanks again for helping me make the decision to get it sorted. Your experience definitely gave me the push I needed!
Hey there! I had almost identical issues with my 2014 BMW M4 last year. The symptoms match exactly what happened to me, uneven ride height, error messages, and that annoying rough shifting. Turned out the air suspension valve was completely shot, and yes, the bellows valve was the culprit. Had it fixed at the garage since this isn't something you want to mess around with. The mechanic showed me the faulty valve, it was corroded and wasn't regulating air pressure properly anymore. The repair involved replacing the valve assembly and recalibrating the whole suspension system. It was quite a serious issue since it affects the car's stability and handling. The job took about a day and a half. Despite being a complex repair, it totally solved the transmission shifting issues too, which were apparently linked to the car's stability control system compensating for the uneven ride height. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon, driving with faulty air suspension can lead to more expensive problems down the line.
