Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's started acting up last week, completely dead now. No noise at all when pressing the controls, which is probably a bad sign. Just had my regular service done at 49,908 KM too, and everything was fine then. It's frustrating because I really like this iX3, but these electronic issues can be such a pain. Seems like your repair costs were reasonable. I've been putting it off hoping it would sort itself out, but looks like I'll need to bite the bullet and get it checked. Did your warranty cover any of the repairs? Mine's still under the original warranty, so fingers crossed.
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get your frustration. When my i4's sunblind stopped working, it was also completely silent, exactly like yours. That's actually a classic sign of a dead motor, just like what happened to mine. Since you mentioned warranty, I wish I'd known this earlier, but my warranty had just expired when it happened (talk about timing!), which is why I had to pay out of pocket. But you're in luck! If you're still under the original warranty, this should definitely be covered. These motor failures are considered a mechanical defect, not wear and tear. When mine failed right after service too, I was pretty annoyed. But honestly, these things just happen with electronic components sometimes, it's not really related to the service. Quick tip though, get it checked soon. In my case, letting it sit for too long in one position started putting extra stress on other components. Better to get it sorted while it's just the motor rather than letting it create more issues. Let me know how the warranty claim goes. I'm curious if they'll find the same issue as mine!
Thanks a lot for the detailed advice! You just saved me from making the same mistake of waiting too long. I've called the dealership and booked it in for next week. They seemed pretty familiar with the issue when I described it, which is somewhat reassuring. Funny how these things happen right after a service, but you're right, probably just coincidence. Really glad you mentioned the potential for additional damage though. I would've probably kept procrastinating if you hadn't warned me about that. The service advisor confirmed it should be covered under warranty, so that's a huge relief. I'll definitely update you once it's fixed. Thanks again for all your help, it's great to hear from someone who's been through the same thing. These modern cars are amazing when everything works, but when something goes wrong, it's nice to have others share their experience!
Hi there! I have some experience with EVs and their electronics. Last year, I faced a similar issue with my 2023 BMW i4 (love those BMWs!). The sunblind motor just gave up one day, super annoying! Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed a faulty motor mechanism. The repair, including parts and labor, cost me around 330 Euro. They had to order the specific motor unit, but once they got it, the fix took about 2 hours. Before going to the workshop, I tried the basic stuff, checking fuses and resetting the system, but no luck. These electronic sunblinds can be tricky. Could you share more details about when this started happening? Does it make any noise when you try to operate it? Just want to make sure it's the same issue I had. Hope this helps!
