Thanks for sharing your experience! My iX2 just hit 59704 KM and had its latest service about 2 months ago. Actually, now that you mention software updates, I did notice these issues starting shortly after the last over-the-air update. Haven't seen any additional warning lights besides the ESP and ABS ones you mentioned. The vibration seems to get worse at higher speeds, though. Think I'll get it checked out at the dealer just to be safe. The price you mentioned doesn't sound too bad if it fixes all these issues!
Hey again! Thanks for the additional info about your iX2. You know what? That's really interesting about the timing with the over-the-air update because I had a similar experience. After you mentioned it, I remembered that my issues also started after a software update, though I didn't connect the dots at first. Just wanted to add that when I took mine in, the technician explained that sometimes these updates can mess with the sensor calibration. In my case, they actually had to do a complete system reset along with the sensor recoding to get everything working properly again. Given that your symptoms are practically identical to what I experienced, especially that worse vibration at higher speeds ( that was nerve-wracking!), I'm even more convinced it's the same issue. My vibration was also speed-dependent, and it completely disappeared after the fix. Since you're planning to take it to the dealer anyway, maybe ask them to check if there's any connection between the update and the sensor issues. They might even have a technical service bulletin about it by now. They could probably do a quick diagnostic scan to confirm before starting any work. Let me know how it goes, I'm curious if it turns out to be the same problem. These EVs are amazing but sometimes their smart features can be a bit too smart for their own good!
Thanks everyone for the input! After all this discussion, I've gone ahead and scheduled an appointment with the dealer for next week. Really appreciate your detailed experience with the same issue, it's actually quite reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this, especially the part about it being connected to the software update. I'll make sure to mention all these symptoms to the technician, particularly about the vibrations getting worse at higher speeds and the possible connection to the recent over-the-air update. The repair cost you mentioned gives me a good baseline of what to expect too. Will definitely update this thread once I get it sorted. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, it's super helpful to have this kind of insight before heading to the dealer. At least now I won't feel completely in the dark when discussing the potential fixes with them!
Hey there! I've got some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW iX3 (and I also own an i4). I'm no expert but I've learned quite a bit from dealing with these cars. Last month, I had almost identical symptoms, ESP and ABS warnings, heavy steering, and that annoying vibration. Took it to my workshop and yep, it was exactly what you suspect, a faulty steering angle sensor coding. They had to recalibrate and recode the sensor, which sorted everything out. Cost me 195 Euro, and honestly, it was worth every penny because those symptoms were really concerning. Before I share more specific details about my repair process, could you tell me if you've noticed any other warning lights or unusual behaviors? Also, has your car had any recent software updates or maintenance work done? This info would help me better understand if you're dealing with the exact same issue I had.
