Error message in the speedometer

Hi everyone! My 2024 BMW iX2 started acting up recently. Getting error messages in the speedometer and error codes stored in the system. I suspect it might be related to an incomplete system readiness check. Has anyone dealt with similar issues in their iX2? Would love to know what the diagnosis was and how your service center resolved it. Specifically interested in repair time and what parts needed replacement. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey there! I've got some experience with EVs, I'd say low to moderate experience working on them. I had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW iX3 (also have an i4 in the family). Those error messages can be tricky! Took mine to the workshop last month when it started showing multiple warning lights. Turned out they just needed to do a complete system reset and recalibration after my recent OBD2 diagnostic scan. The service center handled it under warranty, so no cost for me. Before I share more specific details about my experience, could you tell me which exact error messages you're seeing on your display? Also, when was the last time you had any work done on the car? This info would help me understand if you're dealing with the same thing I did. The fix for mine was pretty quick, about 2 hours total at the service center. But obviously, your situation might be different depending on the specific errors.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm seeing the "System Check Incomplete" message along with a battery warning light. Haven't had any major work done since my last service at 136348 KM. Really relieved to hear yours was just a reset job, hoping mine's something similarly straightforward! Did they mention anything specific about what might have triggered those errors in your case? Just wondering if I should avoid certain actions that could cause this in the future.

Hey again! Yeah, after seeing your specific error messages, I'm even more convinced it's similar to what I experienced. In my case, they explained that the "System Check Incomplete" message popped up after I had used a third-party charging station that apparently had some communication issues with the car's systems. The battery warning light in my case was actually just a byproduct of the system check being interrupted, it wasn't indicating any actual battery problems. The technician told me it's pretty common with these newer EVs when there's a communication problem between different car systems. To avoid this happening again, they recommended sticking to certified charging stations and letting the car complete its system checks without interruption after charging. I've been following that advice for the past couple months and haven't had any issues since. Also, funny enough, my car had similar mileage when this happened, around 140000 KM. From what I understand, it's not really related to the mileage though, more about how the car's computer handles certain charging and diagnostic situations. If you want my advice, take it to the service center but don't stress too much. It's likely just a software reset job like mine was. These high-tech EVs sometimes just need a good old "turn it off and on again" approach!

Thanks so much for that detailed explanation! That really puts my mind at ease, especially since I did recently use a new charging station I hadn't tried before. Makes total sense about the communication issues potentially triggering these warnings. I'll definitely book it in with the service center tomorrow, sounds like it should be a pretty straightforward fix. Really appreciate you mentioning about sticking to certified charging stations too. I've got a few nearby that I know are reliable, so I'll make those my go-to spots from now on. It's actually quite reassuring to know this isn't uncommon with these newer EVs. You've saved me a lot of worry! Will update the forum once I get it sorted, just in case anyone else runs into the same issue. Thanks again for all your help!
