Hi all! Having trouble with my 2024 BMW iX2 (193,570 km). The entire infotainment system is dead, no sound, nav system not working, nothing. Got an error code stored and suspect it's MOST bus related. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar issues on their iX2? Would appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations for fixing this, especially from those who've had MOST bus problems. Thanks!

I feel you on this one. Had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW iX3 last year. The MOST bus failure shut down my entire infotainment system too. After diagnosis, it turned out the fiber optic ring was damaged, and one control unit was defective. The repair involved replacing the faulty control unit and repairing the fiber optic connection. It was a serious issue since the MOST bus is crucial for communication between different modules. In my case, the amplifier unit was the culprit, causing a complete communication breakdown in the system. The fix wasn't a quick one, took the garage about two days to get everything sorted. They had to run multiple diagnostic tests to pinpoint the exact location of the break in the ring. Worth mentioning that if you're getting a full system blackout like this, it's definitely not something you want to ignore or try fixing yourself. Since you're having similar symptoms, I'd recommend finding a BMW-certified shop with experience in MOST bus repairs. These issues need proper diagnostic tools and expertise.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This is super helpful as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair job? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system? Asking because I want to budget properly and know what to expect long-term with this MOST bus situation.

Hey there! Happy to give you those details. The total repair came to 1000 € at my certified shop, mainly because they had to replace one of those control units in the MOST bus system. And I've got good news on the reliability front, since getting it fixed, my infotainment system has been running perfectly. No more black screens, sound system works great, and all the connectivity features are back to normal. I know these repairs can make anyone nervous (trust me, I was sweating about it too), but it was totally worth getting it sorted properly. The MOST bus issue that was driving me crazy is completely gone now. Looking back, I probably should've dealt with it sooner rather than trying to live with a wonky system for those few weeks. Just make sure whoever works on it knows their stuff with BMW electronics, these systems can be pretty complex. But once it's fixed right, you should be good to go. Mine's been rock solid for months now.

Thanks so much for all the details! I finally took my car to a different BMW-certified mechanic yesterday. You were right about needing proper diagnostic tools, they found the exact same issue with a faulty control unit. The repair cost was actually pretty close to what you paid, around 950 €. The mechanic was really thorough and explained everything. They had to order a specific part which took a day to arrive, but the actual repair only took about 4-5 hours. Got my car back today and I'm genuinely relieved, the infotainment system is working perfectly again! The nav system, sound, everything's back to normal. What a difference compared to my last mechanic who couldn't even properly diagnose the problem. Really glad I asked here and got your advice about finding a certified shop. Definitely made the right call switching mechanics. Thanks again for helping me avoid more headaches with this!
