BMW iX2 Electric Seat Failure, Complete System Down

Hey everyone, having trouble with my 2024 BMW iX2's electric seats. None of the adjustments work, including memory settings. The car's diagnostic shows an error code. I suspect there might be an electrical restriction issue. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What did your mechanic find and how was it fixed? Looking for real experiences to help diagnose this before heading to the workshop.

Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW iX (also had an iX3 before). As someone with some experience working on EVs, I feel your pain with electrical gremlins. My seat controls completely stopped working last year, super frustrating! Turned out it was just a loose connection in the wiring harness under the seat. My workshop found it pretty quickly with their diagnostic tools. The cables had worked themselves loose over time, common issue apparently. Total bill came to 95 Euro for reconnecting and securing the cables properly. Before you head to the workshop though, could you share if you're hearing any sounds when pressing the controls? Also, did this happen suddenly or gradually? This info would help understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had.

Thanks for sharing that! Dealing with the same headache on mine with 130230 KM. I actually don't hear any sounds when pressing the controls, it just died suddenly during my last drive. No warning lights or anything before it happened. Just total silence when trying any adjustment. Good to know about the wiring harness issue though, gives me hope it might be something relatively simple. The car's still under warranty, so hopefully won't hit my wallet too hard. Will definitely mention the harness connection when I take it in next week after my latest service.

Hey again! Based on what you're describing, especially the complete silence and sudden failure, it does sound very similar to what I experienced with my iX. Since you mentioned you have 130230 KM on yours, it makes even more sense as the connections can work loose over time with normal use. One thing I forgot to mention from my experience, when my issue happened, I actually tried disconnecting the car battery for about 10 minutes to reset the electrical systems (kind of like rebooting a computer). It didn't solve my problem, but it might be worth trying before your service appointment. Just make sure you know your radio code if you try this! The good news is that since you're still under warranty, this should definitely be covered. When they fixed mine, they actually added some extra securing clips to prevent the harness from working loose again. Haven't had any issues since then. Make sure they do the same for yours, it's a small detail but really important for preventing future problems. Let us know what they find when you get it checked out. Always good to share these experiences so others can learn from them too!

Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! I actually tried the battery disconnect trick you mentioned right after reading your message, but no luck, still completely dead. Good to know about those extra securing clips though, I'll definitely ask them to add those when they fix it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's made me feel a lot better knowing it's likely just a connection issue rather than something major with the seat motors or control module. Will update the thread after my service appointment next week to let everyone know what they found. Hoping for a quick fix like yours! Thanks again for the help.
