BMW iX2 Electric Seat Controls Failed, Common Fix Needed

Electric seats malfunction

|

Fault stored

Hey all! I'm having trouble with the electric seats in my 2024 BMW iX2. The seat adjustments don't work at ignition or engine start, and even with saved driver profiles, they only respond after the engine is running. The system's throwing an error code too. I suspect it's related to the passenger seat electronics. Has anyone dealt with similar seat adjustment issues in their iX2? What was the actual problem and how did your service center fix it? Looking for real experiences and solutions. Thanks!

Hey! I have some experience with EVs (some basic maintenance and repairs). I faced a similar issue with my 2022 BMW i4. The electric seats were acting up just like yours, and it turned out to be a battery discharge problem. The seats weren't getting enough power because the low-voltage battery was heavily discharged. Had it checked at my workshop, and they diagnosed it using their diagnostic tools. They replaced the 12V battery, and it cost me around 290 Euro, including labor. Since then, everything's been working perfectly, both driver and passenger seats, memory settings, the whole deal. Before you head to the shop though, could you share: Have you noticed any other electrical issues? Does this happen consistently or intermittently? Any warning lights on the dash? I've seen similar problems on other BMWs (like the iX3), so it's not uncommon in the lineup. Let me know these details, and I might be able to help more specifically!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm having the exact same symptoms with my iX2 (176341 KM). Just had my service done last week, and this started happening right after. The seats are consistently unresponsive at first, and yes, I've noticed the dashboard flickering a bit too. No major warning lights, though, just that seat error code I mentioned. Your battery theory makes a lot of sense, I'll definitely get that checked out. Really don't want to deal with more electrical gremlins down the line. Good to know it was a straightforward fix for you. I'll book an appointment with my service center and have them look at the battery situation. Hopefully, it's just that and not something more complex with the seat modules themselves!

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your iX2. You know what? That flickering dashboard alongside the seat issues is exactly what I experienced before my battery replacement, it's like déjà vu! The fact that this started right after your service is really interesting. Sometimes when they do diagnostic work during service, it can put extra strain on an already weak battery. My i4 did the same thing, started acting up right after a routine check. I remember before I got mine fixed, the symptoms got progressively worse, started with just the seats, then small electrical glitches started popping up everywhere. That flickering you mentioned? Classic sign of voltage issues. Quick tip from my experience, while you're waiting for your service appointment, try not to use too many electrical accessories when starting the car. I found that reducing the electrical load during startup helped minimize the issues temporarily. The good news is that if it is the battery like I suspect, it's a pretty quick fix. My service took about an hour, and they also ran a full electrical system diagnostic just to be safe. Definitely worth checking out before looking into more expensive seat module repairs. Let me know how it goes with the service center, curious to see if your iX2 has the same underlying issue as my i4 did!

Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! That's super helpful about minimizing electrical usage during startup, I'll definitely try that until I can get it checked out. The similarity between our situations is really reassuring. I've already called the service center and got an appointment for next week. You're probably right about the service work triggering this, makes total sense that diagnostics could've stressed an already weak battery. The flickering is actually a bit worse today, so I'm glad I'm getting it looked at soon. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, saved me a lot of worry about potentially expensive seat module repairs! I'll update you once I get it sorted. Fingers crossed it's just the battery like in your case. Thanks again for taking the time to help me troubleshoot this!
