Airbag warning light

Hey again! Glad I could help! Just wanted to update you, yes, everything has been working perfectly since I got it fixed last month. The airbag warning light hasn't come back on at all, which is such a relief. I ended up paying 95€ for the repair, which wasn't too bad considering it was just a cable connection issue they had to sort out. The mechanic basically just had to reconnect and secure a loose plug that was causing the system to throw up that warning. It was a pretty straightforward fix once they diagnosed the problem correctly. Honestly, for the peace of mind knowing my safety systems are all working properly now, it was money well spent. These modern BMWs are fantastic but sometimes these little electrical gremlins can pop up. Just make sure whoever looks at yours knows their way around the newer EV models. Keep us posted on how you get on with yours!
Thanks everyone! Just wanted to update you on what happened with my iX2. Finally got it checked out last week at a certified EV specialist. I was pretty nervous going in, but turns out it wasn't anything major. The mechanic found a similar issue, a disconnected sensor wire under the driver's seat that was triggering the warning light. The whole thing took about 90 minutes because they had to remove the seat to access the wiring. Cost me a bit more than expected at 180€, but they also did a full safety system diagnostic while they were at it. The warning light's been off since the fix, and honestly, it's such a relief not seeing that constant reminder on my dashboard anymore. Pretty glad I asked here first, saved me from worrying it was something more serious with the actual airbag. The car's running great now, and I've found a reliable mechanic in the process. Really appreciate everyone's help and advice on this!
Hey there! I actually had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW iX3 Electric last month. The airbag warning light was driving me nuts too. Took it to the garage and turns out it was just a faulty wiring connection in the seat belt pretensioner system. The connector had worked itself loose over time and was causing false readings. The fix wasn't too complex, the technician had to remove the seat, reconnect and secure the cable properly, then reset the system. It wasn't a serious safety concern in my case, but definitely something that needed fixing since it's part of the safety system. If your experience matches mine, it might just be a connection issue rather than the airbag itself. The seat removal and reconnection took about an hour. Make sure whoever works on it knows their way around EV systems though, these newer BMWs have specific diagnostic requirements. Hope this helps with your decision. Let us know what you find out.
