Thanks for sharing your experience! My iX1 just hit 120736 KM and had its latest service two months ago. You know what's interesting, mine's actually doing it on the passenger side only, and I'm getting error code E0872 when I scan it. I first noticed it after a rainy day, which makes me wonder if moisture got in there somehow. Did your repair come with any warranty? I'm hoping it won't cost as much as yours did, but at least I know what I might be looking at price-wise. Definitely going to get it checked out this week, you're right about the safety concerns.
Hey again! Always good to follow up on these issues. Yeah, after seeing your error code and the fact it's only on the passenger side, I'm even more convinced it's the same problem I dealt with. The E0872 is exactly what my i4 showed, classic servomotor failure. Interesting that you noticed it after rain though, mine just started acting up out of nowhere. About the warranty, yes, the repair came with a 2-year warranty on the parts, which was pretty reassuring. Actually, given your mileage (pretty similar to what mine had when it happened), you might want to check if you're still under the extended warranty. Could save you some cash! One thing I didn't mention in my first reply, before going to the workshop, I tried resetting the vehicle's electronics by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. Didn't fix the issue, but thought I'd mention it in case you want to try. Just don't forget to have your radio code handy if you do. Keep us posted on what the workshop says. I'm curious if the repair cost has changed since I had mine done. And definitely get it sorted soon, I learned the hard way that these things don't fix themselves!
Thanks for the additional details! I'll definitely look into that warranty suggestion, that could be a real money-saver. I actually tried that battery reset trick you mentioned this morning, but no luck. Still getting that pesky E0872 code. I've booked it in for next week, and I'll make sure to mention the servomotor issue you experienced. Really helps to go in there knowing what to expect. I'll probably skip driving at night until it's fixed, better safe than sorry with these things. Will update the thread once I get the diagnosis and repair sorted. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, really helped me understand what I might be dealing with. These EVs are great but when something electrical goes wrong, it's good to have some guidance from others who've been there!
Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and their electrical quirks. I actually faced something very similar with my 2020 BMW i4 (also had an iX3 before). The symptoms were nearly identical, warning light and misaligned beams. Turned out to be a faulty servomotor in the headlight assembly that controls the beam adjustment. Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. The repair involved replacing the servomotor unit completely, set me back about 1040 Euro, parts and labor included. Since then, everything's been working perfectly. Could you share if you're getting any specific error codes? Also, does the issue happen on both headlights or just one side? This info would help me better understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Pro tip: Don't wait too long on this one, driving with misaligned headlights can be dangerous, especially at night.
