Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm dealing with this issue after reaching 147,038 KM on my iX1. It's been a pretty sudden problem, and the error code I'm getting is DTC-3625. It's happening consistently every time I try to use the climate control, doesn't seem to be intermittent at all. Your cable connection issue seems similar to what I might be experiencing. I've scheduled an appointment with my workshop next week, and hopefully it'll be a straightforward fix like yours. Did you notice any other electrical quirks before getting it fixed? Just wondering if I should keep an eye out for anything else in the meantime.
Oh hey again! Glad you got back to me about this. Yeah, seeing that DTC-3625 code really rings a bell, that's exactly what my iX3 was showing when I had the cable issue. And having it happen consistently like that is another sign pointing to the same problem I had. Actually, now that you mention electrical quirks, I did notice a few things before getting it fixed that I probably should have mentioned in my first reply. My infotainment system would occasionally freeze for a few seconds, and the temperature display would sometimes show unusual numbers. Nothing major, but definitely related to the whole electrical system being a bit wonky. Since you're waiting for your workshop appointment, here's a quick tip from my experience: try not to mess with the climate control buttons too much in the meantime. I made that mistake and kept pressing buttons hoping it would somehow fix itself, which might have made the connection issue even worse. 147,038 km is actually pretty close to when mine started acting up too, I was around 150,000 km. From what the technician told me, it's apparently a common wear point for these connections to start getting loose. Let me know how it goes at the workshop! I'm curious if it'll turn out to be the same issue. Fingers crossed it's as simple a fix as mine was.
Thanks for the extra details and advice! Really appreciate you mentioning those additional electrical symptoms, I actually noticed my infotainment system freezing up a couple times but didn't connect the dots. I'll definitely follow your tip about not messing with the climate controls until the appointment. It's quite reassuring to hear that yours happened around the same mileage and that it turned out to be a relatively simple fix. The similarity in error codes and symptoms makes me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I was worried I might be looking at a major repair bill! I'll update you after my workshop visit next week. Thanks again for all your help, it's been super useful having someone who's been through the same thing. Here's hoping it's just a loose connection like yours was!
Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and actually faced a similar issue with my 2020 BMW iX3 last winter (I also test drove the i4 before getting it). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I encountered. The control panel was acting up, and climate control was basically useless. After taking it to my workshop, they found it was just a loose cable connection to the climate control module. Total repair was 95 Euro, mostly labor costs for diagnosing and fixing the connection. The fix was pretty straightforward once they identified the problem. They had to remove the control panel, reconnect and secure the cables properly, and run a system test. Everything's been working perfectly since then. Before we jump to conclusions though, could you share: Any specific error codes you're seeing? Did this start suddenly or gradually? Does the issue happen all the time or intermittently? This could help narrow down if you're dealing with the same problem I had.
