Hey all! Having a nightmare with my 2022 BMW iX1 (electric, 115537 KM). The suspension's acting up, car's sitting low and leaning, plus getting error messages and reduced power. Think it might be the air suspension compressor gone bad. Had a sketchy experience with my last mechanic, so looking for advice from anyone who's dealt with similar issues. What was your repair cost and would you recommend any specific fixes? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there! I faced a similar issue with my 2019 BMW iX3 last year. The symptoms you're describing are quite familiar. Initially thought it was the compressor, but after inspection, it turned out to be faulty wiring connections to the air suspension control module. The tech found several corroded connectors and a damaged cable harness that was causing intermittent communication issues. It was actually less serious than a full compressor failure, though it still needed immediate attention to prevent further damage to the system. The repair involved replacing the wiring harness and cleaning/resealing all the connection points. Took about a day and a half at the shop. Since then, no more error messages or suspension problems. Just make sure you get a proper diagnostic done before replacing any major components. Best of luck with the fix.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it might just be the wiring rather than a full compressor issue. Would you mind telling me roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks? Just want to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if I should expect any follow-up issues. Cheers!

Hey again! Great news, after taking your advice and having it properly diagnosed, it turned out to be exactly what I experienced, just a dodgy cable connection! The mechanic fixed the faulty plug connection to the compressor, and it only cost me 95€. Such a relief it wasn't the entire compressor needing replacement! Since the repair three months ago, everything's been running perfectly smooth. No more error messages, no wonky suspension levels, and the car's back to its normal ride height. Haven't noticed any other issues pop up either. It's funny how sometimes what seems like a major problem can turn out to be something relatively simple and affordable to fix. Definitely worth getting that proper diagnostic done first rather than jumping to worst-case scenarios! Hope your repair turns out to be similarly straightforward. Let me know how it goes!

What a massive relief! Just got my car back from the shop today, and you were spot on about getting a proper diagnosis first. Had a much better experience this time with a new mechanic who actually took the time to properly check everything. Turned out my issue was slightly different, had a small leak in one of the air lines and a loose connector. Total bill came to about 150€, which included a full system check. Could've been so much worse if I'd just gone ahead and replaced the whole compressor like I was initially thinking! The car's running like new now, no more leaning or error messages, and the power's back to normal. Such a weight off my mind, and I learned a valuable lesson about not assuming the worst straight away. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me approach this whole situation better!
