Thanks for sharing your experience! My iX just hit 25020 KM and had its latest service a couple weeks back. The issue came up suddenly yesterday, no warning signs before that. Haven't noticed any other electrical problems, lights are working fine. Getting error code "Window control system failure" on the display. Really hoping it's not the battery since everything else seems to be working normally. Would rather not face a major repair so soon after service. Might try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery first to see if that helps reset the system before taking it in.
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your iX. I completely get your concern about having issues so soon after service, that's frustrating. Honestly, when I had my battery issue, I also tried the disconnect/reconnect trick first. In my case, it gave temporary relief, the windows worked for about a day before acting up again. Since you're getting a specific window control system error and everything else is working fine, I'm actually starting to think this might be different from what I experienced. With my battery problem, I had other small electrical glitches too. Given that your car was just serviced and the issue came on suddenly, I'm wondering if something got knocked loose during the service. When I mentioned this to my mechanic later, he said sometimes the window control module can get a bit confused after power interruptions or service work. Have you tried the basic window reset procedure? For BMWs, it's usually holding the window switch up for a few seconds after the window is fully closed. Worked once on my i4 when the windows got wonky after a software update. If that doesn't help, might be worth giving your service center a call, especially since they just worked on it. They might even cover it under service warranty if something went wrong during maintenance.
Thanks so much for the detailed suggestions! You've actually made me feel a bit better about the situation. I just tried the window reset procedure you mentioned, held up all switches for about 10 seconds each, but no luck unfortunately. Think I'll try the battery disconnect tonight when I get home. If that doesn't work, you're probably right about contacting the service center. They should definitely take a look since it's been such a short time since they worked on it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and troubleshooting tips. I'll update once I figure out what's causing the problem. Fingers crossed it's something simple and not a major repair job!
Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW i4 (also owned an iX3 before). I noticed the exact same symptoms, all windows stopped responding and got error messages. Turned out my vehicle's battery was dying and causing electrical glitches. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. Had to replace the battery, which cost me around 290 Euro, but it solved all the window issues completely. Before you head to a mechanic though, could you share: Are you getting any specific error codes? Have you noticed any other electrical issues (like dimming lights)? Did this happen suddenly or gradually? This info would help determine if you're facing the same problem I had or if it's something else with your iX.
