BMW iX Warning Light Storm: Multiple System Errors

Error message in the speedometer

Hi everyone! My 2022 BMW iX is acting up with multiple warning messages. The speedometer shows an error message with a warning light, plus there's a permanent message stuck on the nav screen. The error memory also logged some faults. I suspect it's related to the emergency call system, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone dealt with similar warning combinations in their iX? What did the workshop diagnose and how did they fix it? Looking for actual repair experiences before heading to the dealer. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! This sounds familiar. I have some experience working on EVs. I had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW i4 (had both i4 and iX before). Got multiple warning messages, including speedometer errors and persistent display issues. Turned out to be a loose cable connection in the emergency call module. The workshop found that the main connector wasn't properly seated, causing communication errors across different systems. Fixed it for about 95 Euro, mostly diagnostic and labor costs. They had to remove some panels, reseat the connections, and clear the error codes. All warnings disappeared after that. Before suggesting anything specific for your case, could you share: Are there any specific error codes showing? Did these issues start suddenly or gradually? Have you had any recent work done on the car? Let me know these details and I might be able to help further!

Thanks for your input! My iX just hit 133961 KM and this issue popped up a few days ago, completely out of the blue. No specific error codes showing on my end, but haven't scanned it properly yet. The warnings just appeared out of nowhere while driving, no recent work done except the regular service last month. Really appreciate the heads-up about the emergency call module connector. That sounds promising since it matches my symptoms pretty well. Before booking a workshop appointment, I might check if anything looks obviously loose, though I'll leave the real troubleshooting to the pros. Just want to avoid spending unnecessary time at the dealer if it's something simple like a connection issue. Does anyone else have experience with similar warning combinations?

Hey again! Thanks for the additional info about your iX. You know what's interesting, my situation was super similar. My warnings also showed up out of nowhere after a regular service, which makes me even more convinced it's probably that emergency call module connection. When it happened to my car, I initially thought about checking it myself too, but honestly, these modules can be a bit tricky to access without proper tools. Plus, even if you find the loose connection, you'll still need someone with proper diagnostic equipment to clear those error codes. From my experience, once these warnings start, they typically don't resolve themselves. Mine actually got worse over time, started getting more frequent error messages and the nav screen would freeze more often. That's what finally pushed me to take it to the workshop. If you're seeing the exact same combination of warnings (speedometer, nav screen, etc.) as I did, I'd say just book it in. Should be a relatively quick fix if it's the same issue. The diagnostic time is what takes longest really, the actual repair was pretty quick in my case. Just make sure to mention all these symptoms when you book it in. That helped speed up the diagnosis in my case since they knew exactly where to look first.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Really glad I asked here first. After hearing about the similar experiences, especially with the emergency call module, I'm going to stop overthinking it and just book it in with the dealer tomorrow. You're right, even if I could track down the issue myself, I'd still need their diagnostic tools to clear everything. My gut feeling about the emergency call system being the culprit seems more likely now, especially since the warning pattern matches what others experienced. Better to get it sorted quickly before it gets worse, like what happened with your car. I'll make sure to mention all these symptoms when I book it in, and specifically ask them to check the emergency call module connections first. Hopefully, it'll be a quick fix like yours was. I'll update here once I get it sorted in case anyone else runs into the same issue in the future. Thanks again for all the helpful insights!
