Thanks for sharing your experience! My iX just hit 133545 KM and had its latest service about 2 months ago. The shaking definitely gets worse when I'm driving faster, especially on highways. It's really concerning because everything was fine until just a few days ago. Been driving EVs for a while, but this is definitely a new one for me. Might be something more serious than a tire sensor though, since the steering is actually hard to turn even at low speeds. Guess I'll have to take it to the workshop, but wanted to check if anyone else had dealt with something similar first.
Hey again! After reading your latest update about the steering being hard even at low speeds, I'm thinking it might be different from what I experienced with my i4. While the symptoms started similarly, my issue was purely tire-related and didn't affect the steering effort at low speeds like yours does. Given what you're describing now, especially with the high mileage (my i4 only had about 45000 KM when I had my issue), this sounds more like it could be a problem with the electric power steering system. These EVs have pretty complex steering setups, and when they start acting up, it usually needs more than just a sensor replacement. Quick question, have you noticed any unusual noises when turning the wheel? When my friend's i4 had a power steering issue, it made this weird whining sound before the steering got really heavy. I'd definitely get this checked out ASAP rather than waiting. The combination of ABS warning, heavy steering, and vibrations could indicate something more serious than what I initially thought. Sorry I can't be more helpful with my previous sensor theory, looks like I jumped the gun there!
Thanks so much for the follow-up! Actually, now that you mention it, I have been hearing a faint whining sound when turning, especially during slow-speed maneuvers. I didn't connect the dots earlier, but that's really helpful info about your 's i4. You're right, this does sound more serious than a tire sensor issue. Just booked an appointment with my BMW workshop for tomorrow morning. Don't want to risk driving it much more, especially with all these symptoms getting worse. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences and helping me understand what might be going on. Will update the forum once I know what the actual problem is, might help someone else dealing with similar issues in the future!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW i4 last year (I have some experience working on EVs, but mostly basic maintenance). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I went through. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty tire valve sensor that was causing incorrect pressure readings and triggering the ABS warning. Took it to my workshop and they found that one of the valves was actually defective, causing a slow leak that made the steering feel heavy and shaky. The whole repair, including diagnostics and replacement, cost me around 280 Euro. Since then, no more issues! What trim level is your iX, and how many miles/kilometers have you put on it? This info would help me understand if you might be dealing with the same problem. Also, have you noticed if the shaking gets worse at higher speeds?
