BMW iX Safety Systems Fail with Acceleration Issues

Hey everyone! Need some advice about my 2021 BMW iX (electric). Having multiple issues lately, ASC and ABS totally stopped working, plus the car jerks during acceleration. Got some error codes stored too. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Anyone experienced similar problems with their iX? Car's got about 77,700 km on it. Would appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations for fixing these issues. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I actually dealt with something very similar on my 2018 BMW i4 last month. The symptoms you're describing match what I experienced, jerky acceleration, ASC and ABS failures. The diagnostic showed the ASC relay was defective, which was causing these cascading issues. Had to get the relay replaced at the shop. While not the most expensive fix for a BMW, it's definitely not something to ignore since it affects core safety systems. The repair took about 4 hours, and they also had to recalibrate the systems afterward. The good news is that once fixed, all those issues disappeared completely. My car runs smooth now with no error codes. Given your symptoms, I'd strongly suggest getting the ASC relay checked. Better to address it sooner rather than later. Just my experience with it, hope this helps with your decision. Best regards

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you got it sorted out. The symptoms do sound exactly like what I'm dealing with. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! The whole repair came to 90 €, honestly not as painful as I was expecting for a BMW fix. The mechanic was spot on with diagnosing the faulty ASC relay, and since getting it sorted, my i4 has been running like a dream. That ASC system service warning that was driving me nuts? Completely gone now. The car's acceleration is buttery smooth again, and both the ASC and ABS are working perfectly. I've put about 3,000 km on it since the repair, and there hasn't been a single problem or warning light. It's such a relief not having to worry about those safety systems anymore. The repair was definitely worth every cent, and I'm really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed, would be curious to hear if it solves your issues too! Take care!

Hey, thanks so much for all the details! Really appreciate it. Actually, I bit the bullet and took my iX to a different mechanic yesterday. You were right, it was the ASC relay causing all the trouble! The fix was pretty similar to what you described, though mine cost a bit more at 120 €. The mechanic was really thorough and even spotted a loose connection in the system they fixed at no extra charge. The whole repair took about 5 hours, but wow, what a difference! Took it for a test drive afterward, and it felt like a completely different car. No more jerking during acceleration, and all the warning lights are finally gone. The ABS and ASC are working perfectly now. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the decision to get it checked out. Definitely feeling much better about driving now that everything's sorted! Best wishes!
