Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! My iX just hit 185769 KM on the odometer, and I've been experiencing these issues for about a week now. I actually tried the 30-second reset trick a couple of times, but no luck unfortunately. I'm running the latest software update from last month, did all the recommended updates. Good to know about the reprogramming fix that worked for you. Honestly, a day at the workshop doesn't sound too bad if it solves these annoying glitches. I've got an appointment scheduled for next week, so fingers crossed it's just a software thing like yours was. My car's been super reliable until this cropped up, so it's pretty frustrating dealing with these electrical gremlins.
Hey again! Yeah, hearing about your mileage and the fact that the reset didn't work definitely rings some bells. My i4 had about 160000 KM when I experienced those issues, so pretty similar situation. The fact that you're running the latest software is actually interesting, that's exactly what made me scratch my head too. I initially thought being up-to-date would prevent these issues, but apparently not. When they diagnosed my car, they found that sometimes the updates can create conflicts with the existing system parameters, especially if there's been multiple updates stacked over time. Since you've already got the appointment lined up, that's perfect. From my experience, I'd suggest asking them to specifically check the central control module, that's where my issue was centered. Also, make sure they do a full diagnostic scan because in my case, they found a few minor issues that were contributing to the overall problem. Just to set expectations, after they fixed mine, it took about 2-3 starts for everything to run smoothly again. The system needed a few cycles to properly integrate all the new programming. Don't panic if it's not perfect right after you pick it up. Let us know how it goes at the workshop. Always good to share these experiences for other BMW EV owners!
Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! Really appreciate you mentioning that bit about the control module, I'll definitely bring that up during my appointment. It's actually quite reassuring to hear that you dealt with something so similar, especially with comparable mileage on your i4. That's super helpful to know about the 2-3 starts needed after the fix. I would've probably freaked out if things weren't perfect right away! I'm feeling much more confident about the workshop visit now. These cars are amazing when they work properly, but when technology acts up, it really keeps you guessing. I'll definitely update this thread after my appointment next week. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's exactly the kind of real-world feedback I was hoping for. Keeping my fingers crossed for a straightforward fix like yours!
Hey there! I've got some experience with EVs as I went through something similar with my 2021 BMW i4 last winter (also own an iX3). I'd say I have moderate experience with EV troubleshooting. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with, frozen screens, warning lights going crazy, the works. Took it to my workshop and turns out it was indeed a software glitch in the control unit. They had to do a complete reprogramming which cost me around 240 Euro, but it fixed everything. The whole process took about a day. Before you head to the workshop though, could you share: How long has this been happening? Have you tried the basic reset (holding the start button for 30 seconds)? Which software version is your iX running? This info would help figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had. These new EVs are basically computers on wheels, so sometimes they just need a proper software reset.
