BMW i5 Climate Control Failure: Common Sensor Issue?
Fault stored
Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Thanks for the input! Just had my service done last week and my i5 is at 192560 KM. I'm getting error code E-4732 consistently every time I start the car. No other electrical issues so far, everything else works perfectly fine. The AC/heating problem is constant though, doesn't come and go. The temperature control stays stuck regardless of what setting I choose. That's interesting about the loose connector fix on your i4. Did your mechanic have to remove a lot of panels to access it? I'm wondering if I should try the dealer or if a regular EV-certified shop could handle this.
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your i5. You know what's interesting, my i4 had that exact same error code (E-4732) when my connector issue happened! Given what you're describing, especially with the constant temperature control problem, it does sound very similar to what I experienced. For my repair, the mechanic did have to remove the lower dash panels and part of the center console to access the connection point, took about an hour of labor. But honestly, it wasn't as complex as it sounds. The tricky part was just identifying the loose connector among all the wiring. Since you're at 192560 KM, I'd actually recommend going with a good EV-certified shop rather than the dealer. My regular mechanic handled it just fine and saved me quite a bit compared to dealer prices. Just make sure they're familiar with BMW's electric models, the i4/i5/i7 climate control systems are pretty similar. By the way, after my repair, I haven't had a single climate control issue in the past year. The heating and AC work perfectly now. If you want, I can share my mechanic's troubleshooting steps, might help you or your mechanic narrow down the problem faster.
Thanks so much for sharing your detailed experience! That's really encouraging to hear you had the same error code and got it sorted without breaking the bank. I'll definitely look into finding a reputable EV-certified shop nearby rather than heading straight to the dealer. I'd really appreciate if you could share those troubleshooting steps, might save some diagnostic time. It's actually a relief knowing it might just be a connector issue rather than something more serious with the solar sensor like I initially thought. The similarity between our cases, especially with that matching error code, makes me feel much more confident about getting this fixed. Guess I worried a bit too much at first! I'll get this looked at next week and will let everyone know how it turns out. Really appreciate your help walking me through your experience, it's made this whole situation much less stressful.
Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW i4 (also dealt with the i7 of my friend). I had almost identical symptoms, AC acting up and heating problems. Took it to my regular workshop and turned out it was just a loose connector to the climate control module. The mechanic found the cable connection was faulty and needed to be properly secured. Total repair cost was 95 Euro and fixed everything. Before I can give more specific advice, could you share: Are you getting any specific error messages? Does this happen all the time or intermittently? Have you noticed any other electrical issues? Let me know these details and I'll try to help further based on my experience with BMW's electric line.
