Thanks so much for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Really helpful to know it's likely just the sensor. Mind if I ask how much the repair ended up costing you? Also wondering if you've had any other sensor issues pop up since getting it fixed? It's such a relief to hear it's not a major mechanical problem, was getting a bit worried there for a while!
Hey there again! Quick update on my sensor situation, got it fixed last week actually! Ended up costing me 280 € to replace the dead sensor battery, which was pretty much what I expected. The good news is that since the repair, those annoying tire pressure warnings have completely disappeared. The system's working perfectly now, just like it should. To answer your other question, nope, haven't had any other sensor issues pop up since getting it fixed on my iX3. It's been smooth sailing. These TPMS sensors are usually pretty reliable once they're properly sorted out. Just one of those maintenance things you have to deal with occasionally. And yeah, don't stress too much about it, it's definitely more of an annoyance than a serious problem. Just glad I could help ease your mind about it! Let me know how it goes when you get yours fixed.
Thanks for the detailed follow-up! I finally got my i4 fixed yesterday and you were spot on. The mechanic replaced the faulty sensor and it cost me about the same as yours. Such a relief not seeing those warning lights anymore! Funny story actually, when I took it to the shop, turned out my regular mechanic was off sick, but his replacement was a BMW specialist. He diagnosed it in minutes and had me back on the road in no time. Way better than my last repair experience! He even showed me the old sensor and explained how the whole system works. Really appreciate everyone's help here. It's put my mind at ease knowing this was just a simple fix. The car's running perfectly now, feels good to have this sorted! Thanks again for all the advice, definitely saved me some stress and probably money too!
I had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW iX3 last season. The TPMS sensor battery died, triggering constant warnings and error codes. Initially thought it was just low pressure, but the warnings persisted even after proper inflation. Took it to the dealership service center, where they diagnosed a faulty sensor in one wheel. Had to get the sensor replaced since these batteries aren't serviceable separately. Not a major repair, took about an hour for them to sort it out. The sensor communicates with the car's system to monitor tire pressure, so when it fails, you get those persistent warnings. The good news is that this isn't a serious mechanical issue, it's just an annoyance until fixed. You can still drive the car, but you won't get accurate tire pressure readings. Best to get it checked soon though, as proper tire pressure monitoring is important for both safety and efficiency.
