Thanks for sharing your experience! I've got the base i4 model, and everything else electrical seems to work perfectly fine. No recent work has been done on the car, just routine maintenance at 7750 KM during the latest service. I'll probably take it to the workshop since it sounds like it could be a similar wiring issue. Really hoping it's just a loose connection like in your case! Did your workshop need to keep the car for long to fix it?
Hey again! No, they didn't need to keep my iX3 for long at all, it was done in about an hour. Since you mentioned your i4 just had routine maintenance, I'm even more convinced it's probably similar to what happened with mine. These connections can sometimes come loose during regular service work when they're moving things around. Just a heads up though, my issue actually came back once about two weeks after the first fix, but that was because they didn't secure the wiring properly the first time. Had to take it back, and they redid it free of charge. This time they used better cable ties and made sure everything was properly secured. Haven't had any problems since then. When you take it in, make sure they check the entire wiring harness near the alarm module, not just the obvious connections. In my case, there was also some slight corrosion on one of the connectors that they cleaned up while they were in there. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. Always good to compare notes on these things, especially with these newer electric models!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful to know about the second visit, I'll definitely make sure they do a thorough job with securing everything properly the first time around. I'll ask them specifically about checking the wiring harness and connectors for corrosion too. It's such a relief to hear it was a relatively quick fix for you and it actually makes sense that it could've gotten loose during the routine maintenance. I've already called my workshop and booked it in for tomorrow morning. They said they should be able to look at it right away since it's a minor electrical issue. I really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's made me feel much better about the whole situation. I'll try to remember to update here once it's fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem with their i4!
Hey there! I had pretty much the same issue with my 2019 BMW iX3 (also have an i3 in the garage). I've got some experience working on cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff. My alarm system went completely silent too, no beeps, nothing. Took it to my regular workshop and they found it was just a loose connection in the alarm module wiring. They had to remove some panels to access it, but basically just needed to fix and secure the cables properly. Cost me 95 Euro and it's been working perfectly since then. Before you head to a workshop though, could you share what BMW i4 variant you have and if you've noticed any other electrical issues? This could help pinpoint if we're dealing with the exact same problem. Also, have you checked if this happened after any recent work was done on the car?
