Tire pressure to low

Hey everyone! Having some weird issues with my 2015 BMW i3 hybrid. Getting constant low tire pressure warnings and error messages on the dash. Pretty sure it's related to the tire pressure sensors, but wanted to get some real-world input. Has anyone dealt with this before? Would love to know what your mechanic found and how they fixed it. Just trying to get an idea of what I'm dealing with before taking it to the shop. Thanks in advance.

I had something very similar with my 2013 BMW i8 last year (I have some basic car maintenance experience). Those TPMS warnings can be super annoying! Mine started acting up just like yours, constant alerts even though the tires looked fine. Took it to my regular workshop and turns out it was just dead sensor batteries. They replaced them and recalibrated the system, cost me around 280 Euro but hasn't given me any trouble since. Much better than when I used to own a BMW X5! Before suggesting anything specific though, could you tell us: Have you checked if the actual tire pressure is correct? Are the warnings constant or do they come and go? How many miles/kilometers are on your i3? This info would help figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had. These sensors can be tricky, but usually it's nothing major. Let me know these details and I'll try to help more!

Hey there, thanks for the detailed response! My i3 is at 9738 KM and just had its latest service a couple months back. The warnings are definitely constant, they'll pop up even right after I've checked and filled the tires to the correct pressure. Super frustrating! I've double-checked all tire pressures manually and they're spot on according to the specs in the door jamb. Really thinking you might be onto something with those sensor batteries. Thanks for sharing your experience, gives me a bit of peace of mind knowing it might just be a straightforward fix. I'll probably book it in with my mechanic next week to check those sensors. Better safe than sorry!

Hey again! Yeah, after reading your response, I'm even more convinced it's the same issue I dealt with. Those constant warnings despite correct pressure readings are exactly what I experienced with my i8! Just to add to what I shared before, when my mechanic dug deeper, they found that one sensor was completely dead and another was giving inconsistent readings. The funny thing is, these sensors typically last 5-7 years, so your timing matches up perfectly with when they'd need replacing. Quick tip from my experience, make sure they check all four sensors while they're at it. Even if only one or two are acting up now, the others might not be far behind. I learned this the hard way when I had to go back two months later for another sensor replacement! Also, with your mileage being relatively low, I'd be really surprised if it was anything more serious than the sensors. Such a relief when my warning lights finally stopped after the fix, no more unusual alerts while driving! Keep us posted on what your mechanic finds. I'm curious to know if it's the same issue I had!

Thanks so much for the follow-up and that great tip about checking all the sensors! You've definitely saved me some potential headaches down the road. I just called my mechanic and booked it in for next Tuesday, made sure to mention checking all four sensors while they're at it. It's such a relief knowing you went through the same thing and it wasn't anything major. I was starting to worry it might be something more serious with the car's computer system. Fingers crossed it'll be as straightforward as your fix was! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and advice. I'll update the thread once I get it sorted, might help someone else dealing with the same issue. Thanks again for all your help!

Let our mechanics help you!
