Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since I'm dealing with the exact same symptoms. Glad to hear it wasn't something super major. Did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, just curious, has everything stayed working properly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the climate system?
Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, I ended up paying 95 € for the repair, which covered fixing that faulty cable and plug connection. Pretty reasonable considering how annoying the problem was! And you'll be happy to hear that since getting it fixed, the climate control has been working perfectly, no more flashing panel or unresponsive controls. It's such a relief to have proper heating and AC again! The repair was definitely worth every penny. Honestly, I was worried it might be something more serious at first, but it turned out to be a relatively simple fix. The mechanic did mention these connection issues are fairly common in our models, so you're definitely not alone with this problem. Just make sure whoever looks at it knows their way around BMW hybrids, that's really important. Let me know how it goes when you get yours checked out!
Thanks a lot for the detailed follow-up! I actually took your advice and got my i3 checked out yesterday. Turned out my issue was pretty similar, but I also needed a new temperature sensor. The total came to 140 €, a bit more than yours but still not as bad as I was fearing. The whole experience was surprisingly smooth. Found a certified hybrid specialist who really knew their stuff. They had it diagnosed and fixed within a few hours. I've got my heat and AC working perfectly now, such a relief after dealing with that flashing panel for weeks! You were spot on about these being common issues. The mechanic showed me the corroded connections and explained everything clearly. Much better experience than my last garage visit! Really appreciate you sharing your story, it gave me the push I needed to get this sorted before winter hits. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my BMW i4 2019 Hybrid last winter (137K km). The symptoms were exactly like yours, unresponsive climate controls and weak heating performance. At the garage, they diagnosed it as a faulty connection between the climate control module and the main control unit. The cable harness had some corrosion and a loose connector. It wasn't a major repair in terms of complexity, but it definitely needed immediate attention since climate control is essential for comfort and safety. The technician cleaned the connections, replaced the damaged wiring section, and recalibrated the system. Everything has worked perfectly since then. The whole diagnosis and repair took about 3 hours. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon, these issues tend to get worse if left unattended. Make sure to find a certified BMW technician who's familiar with hybrid systems. The i-series has some specific electronic configurations that need proper diagnostic tools.
