Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to hear from someone who dealt with such a similar issue. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the diagnosis and relay replacement? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other problems pop up? I'm trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and whether this could be part of a bigger issue.
Hey there! Happy to give you an update. The total bill came to 90 € for the diagnosis and replacing that faulty ASC relay. Since having it fixed, my car's been running perfectly, the ASC warning light hasn't come back on, and that annoying jerking during acceleration is completely gone. Such a relief it wasn't anything more serious! You know what's really great? No other issues have popped up since then. The car drives just like it should, smooth and steady. Looking back, I was probably stressing way more than necessary about it, but I guess that's what happens when warning lights start flashing at you! Trust me, if it's the same problem as mine, you won't regret getting it sorted. The cost is pretty reasonable compared to what I was initially worried it might be. My advice would be to specifically ask them to check the relay first, no point throwing money at bigger repairs if it's just this simple fix.
Thanks for all the details! Took your advice and went to a new mechanic today. You were spot on, it was actually the ASC relay causing all the drama! Got the whole thing sorted for around 120 € including parts and labor. The mechanic was really thorough with the diagnostics before jumping to conclusions, which I really appreciated. Took it for a test drive after the repair and wow, what a difference! No more jerking during acceleration, and those annoying warning lights have finally disappeared. Can't believe I was stressing so much about this. Should've asked for help sooner instead of putting up with the problem. The mechanic also checked everything else while they were at it and said the rest of the car's in good shape. Such a relief to have this sorted without breaking the bank. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, definitely saved me from potentially expensive unnecessary repairs!
I had a similar issue with my 2015 BMW 5 Series Hybrid last winter. Initially thought it was something major, but turned out the ASC relay was defective and needed replacement. Had my car jerk during acceleration and both ASC/ABS warning lights came on. The symptoms match yours exactly. Mine also stored error codes in the system. The old relay was showing intermittent connection issues, which caused the safety systems to shut down. Got it fixed at another garage after a bad experience with my regular mechanic. The repair itself wasn't complicated, mainly diagnostic work and relay replacement. It's not a serious issue if caught early, but definitely needs fixing as it affects important safety systems. Just make sure they properly diagnose the relay first before replacing any major components. Some mechanics jump straight to more expensive fixes without checking the basics. Hope this helps with your decision making.
