Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience with the door wiring issue. That's exactly what I'm dealing with right now! Glad to hear you got it sorted out. Just wondering, if you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole repair set you back? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks popping up? Been hesitant about getting it fixed because of potential recurring issues, you know how these electrical problems can be sometimes.

Hey again! Happy to give you an update. I actually just got it fixed last week, and I'm relieved to say the faulty door contact signal issue is completely gone. The total bill came to 95 €, they found it was just a damaged cable connection that needed fixing. Way less expensive than I initially feared! Everything's working like a charm now, the central locking is spot-on, no more unusual error messages popping up on the dash, and the auto-lock while driving works perfectly again. It's such a relief not having to deal with those annoying door warnings anymore! Honestly, I was also worried about recurring issues (these electrical gremlins can be persistent!), but my mechanic showed me it was really just that one faulty connection causing all the drama. Been driving for a week now without a single problem. If you're still on the fence about getting it fixed, I'd say go for it. Just make sure your mechanic knows their way around BMW electrical systems. The peace of mind is totally worth it!

Thanks for all that info! I actually went ahead and got it fixed yesterday after hearing about your experience. You won't believe it, but my issue was pretty similar. The mechanic found a worn-out wire in the driver's door that was causing all the trouble. The repair was quick, took them about three hours total. Bill came to a bit more than yours though, since they had to replace a small control module too. But hey, at least it's all sorted now! The doors are working perfectly, no more error messages, and the auto-lock is back to normal. The mechanic walked me through everything they did and showed me the damaged parts. Really appreciated their transparency, especially after my last bad experience. They even gave the door hinges a quick lubrication as a bonus. What a relief to have this sorted! No more wrestling with unresponsive door locks or those annoying dashboard warnings. Guess I should've done this sooner instead of putting it off. Thanks again for giving me the push I needed to get it fixed!

I had a similar issue with my 2012 BMW 3 series diesel. The door locking system started acting weird last month, unusual error messages and inconsistent locking behavior. Took it to my mechanic, turned out it was a faulty wiring harness in the driver's door. The connection between the door control module and the central locking system was damaged. Had to replace the door wiring harness and reprogram the control module. Not a major mechanical issue, but definitely something that needs proper diagnosis and repair. The wiring tends to wear out from constant door opening/closing. My mechanic said it's fairly common in BMWs of that generation. Got it fixed in about half a day of work. The car's been working perfectly since, no more error messages, central locking works as it should, and the auto-lock is back to normal. Make sure whoever checks it has experience with BMW electrical systems. They'll need proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact problem.
