BMW Diesel Fan Failure Causing Dangerous Overheating

Thanks for your reply! My last service was about 3 months ago at 181385 KM. I've checked both the coolant and fuse, they seem fine. Haven't pulled the error codes yet, but planning to get that done tomorrow. The temperature gauge starts climbing pretty quickly after startup, and I've noticed the engine running a bit rough lately too. Good point about the speed sensor, didn't consider that. Will definitely get the codes checked and report back. Really appreciate the detailed input!

I just went out and tried spinning the fan by hand like you suggested, it moves, but feels a bit stiff compared to what I remember from previous checks.
